Corona Virus is a deadly virus that has brought the whole world to a standstill, economies business, major activities have been worse affected as a result of this, plunging many into abject poverty.

This has led many affluent people in the world to come out of their shells to support in diverse ways to help curb the pandemic to it’s bearest minimum.

In view of this, Former Cameroonian international Samuel Eto’o has announced plans to support his homeland’s efforts to mitigate the growing cases of the ongoing coronavirus.

A total of 100,000 people have been listed as the target for a supply of supplies including soap, sanitizers, and food items, his foundation disclosed in a statement.

The beneficiaries of this novel charity from the former Barcelona superstar are 50,000 households in four cities – Douala, Buea, Yaoundé and Bafoussam, an additional 50,000 protective face masks will also be supplied – specifically for taxi drivers in the country.

“This is a serious humanitarian crisis and only via proper sanitation and the distribution of health kits can we curb the coronavirus,” read a statement from the Foundation.

The government continues efforts aimed at curbing the spread. Cameroon is Central Africa’s most impacted with close to 1000 cases as of April 17. 164 recoveries and 22 deaths have been recorded. Like most countries, borders have been closed and all sports activities suspended but no lockdown imposed.

Ahead of the game against Cameroon, Tanko expressed his belief in his players and says they have mapped out a strategy for victory tonight.

“Its true we’ve not had competitive domestic football in about a year but we also have players in foreign leagues so we came here with a good blend of local and foreign-based players for this competition,” he said in a pre-match interview.

“Though we didn’t get all the players we wanted I believe in the players I’ve invited and I believe they will show what they can do. I am very happy with the performance I’ve seen from them so far”

“On the pitch, we will do our maximum best to win the game. My team is ready and we are to map up a strategy to help us qualify to the Olympics”, the Black Meteors head coach emphasized.

AFCON 2019: Injury update on Christian Atsu and Thomas Agyepong

Christian Atsu came out injured in Ghana’s goalless draw against Cameroon and Kwesi Appiah will be hoping that the forward will be fit for their last game against Guinea-Bissau.

Thomas Ayepong is still injured but reports suggest that he will be fit to play in the round of 16 if Ghana manages to qualify.

Christian Atsu was taken to the hospital to confirm the extent of his injury and that will determine if he will be fit enough to play the last game against Guinea-Bissau.

Injuries and suspension will force Ghana coach to make some changes in the final group game, with Agyepong and Atsu injured and defender Kassim Nuhu suspended, Kwesi Appiah will be looking to his bench for possible replacements.

AFCON: 2019: What Ghana Black Stars need to do to qualify to the knockout stages after draw with Cameroon

The Ghana Black Stars took on The Indomitable Lions Of Cameroon in what was touted to be a game the Stars could not afford to lose.

Following their 2-2 draw with minnows Benin, the Stars had it all to do against the defending champions who had won their first game and were looking to secure qualification into the next round.

It was no surprise that Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah chose a cautious approach in this encounter following the defensive lapses that lead to them conceding 2 goals in the opening game.

Jonathan Mensah returning to the side following the suspension of John Boye and Baba Rahman replacing Lumor at left. The third change was the introduction of Kwadwo Asamoah after the injury to Thomas Agyapong.

The stars started brightly causing Cameroon trouble in the early exchanges but nothing penetrative or decisive enough to cause a goalmouth threat.

Cameroon, however, grew into the game and started dominating play, Bassong the tormentor in chief forcing a goal-bound save from Richard Ofori. Atsu who many felt should not start had an injury after his attempted shot from long range left him feeling some pain in his thigh. he was subsequently replaced by Samuel Owusu.

Thomas Partey failed to sparkle as he had done all season long for Atletico Madrid with bombing runs forward, clearly following instructions from the coach to hold back.

Choupo-Moutin came on for the Lions but did not impact the game as much he would have with both teams canceling each other out on countless occasions.

Jonathan Mensah, in particular, was a rock at the back alongside Kassim Adams, lunging into last-ditch tackles to stop Cameroon from taking the lead that would have meant victory.  In the end, the Black stars improved in defense in a way they did not in the first game but lacked so much in the final third as Jordan Ayew was left isolated at times in the game.

The introduction of Asamoah Gyan in place of the missing in action Kwadwo Asamoah did nothing to add bite to the attack of the Stars. He looked a shadow of himself but probably his short spell on the pitch the cause of that.
Both teams had their moments but nothing to show for it in the final third. Clinton Njie was a threat running rings around the Ghanaian defense but nothing definitive in the end.

The biggest chance, however, fell to the Black in the 86th minute when substitute and debutant Kwabena Owusu latched onto a loose ball from the Cameroonian defense. His electric pace took in him clear on goal but for the crossbar, the game would have ended 1-0 to Ghana.

The game ended 0-0 and it is clear Cameroon are the winners of the day after Benin and Guinea-Bissau drew 0-0 as well.  What this means is that only a win on the final day for Ghana will do to ensure automatic qualification to the round of 16.

A draw on the final day could still send Ghana through with just 3 points but they will need Cameroon to beat Benin as well. The permutation are many but one thing is clear, Ghanaians will need to bring out their calculators again for matchday 3 of the AFCON 2019 group stages. Nothing is certain just yet for the Stars.

WATCH: AFCON 2019: Cameroon 0-0 Ghana; Black Stars still searching for first win

Ghana Black Stars are yet to register a win in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations after drawing their second game of the tournament in Ismalia against Cameroon.

Ghana needed a win to boost their chances of qualifying to the next round but couldn’t achieve their goal as they shared spoils with Cameroon, the Black Stars will be looking to win their next game to have any hope of qualifying to next round of the competition.

Ghana started the game well and had few chances in the opening minutes of the game; Jordan Ayew couldn’t meet Baba Rahman’s early cross to put his side in front.

Richard Ofori was outstanding for the Black Stars after pulling off an amazing save before the end of the first half to keep Ghana in the game.

Cameroon stepped up in the second half but couldn’t convert their chances; Clinton Njie’s header went wide as he would have done better to cause problems for the Ghana defence.

Substitute Kwabena Owusu almost opened the scoring for Ghana with his first involvement of the game but was unlucky as his effort hit the crossbar before going off.

Ghana will face Guinea-Bissau in their final game as they will be looking to get a positive result in the encounter to enhance their chances of qualifying to the next round.

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has caved into the criticism of his selection by naming top stars Kwadwo Asamoah and Baba Rahman in his starting line up for Saturday’s crucial 2019 Africa Cup of Nations clash with Cameroon.

But legendary striker Asamoah Gyan remains on the bench as Lumor Agbenyenu has been benched.

The selection is part of the four changes the coach is making with injuries, poor form, and suspension conspiring to lead to the changes.

Jonathan Mensah will come in for John Boye who was shown the red card in the previous match against Benin.

Injury means Asamoah will play in the place of Thomas Agyepong on the left wing with while Baba Rahman will play on the left side of the defence ahead of Lumor who was not impressive in the first match.

Full Ghana line up

Richard Ofori, Andy Yiadom, Baba Rahman, Kassim Nuhu, Jonathan Mensah, Mubarak Wakaso, Thomas Partey Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew, Christian Atsu and Kwadwo Asamoah
