Algerian side ES Setif arrived in Ghana on Friday evening to begin preparations for their CAF Confederation Cup clash against Asante Kotoko. The game is scheduled for Sunday 14th February at the Accra Sports Stadium.



The two times Champions of Africa conducted their mandatory coronavirus test which came back all negative, and have proceeded to their hotel to begin preparations for the Clash.

Benin’s Issa Mouhamed will be in charge of Ashantigold’s CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round game against Salitas FC from Burkina Faso.

He will be assisted by Koudogbo Augustin Augustin Kougbemede and Lucien Todegnon Hontonnou with Djindo Louis Houngnandande as Fourth Official.

The Match Commissioner for the game is Rene Williams Sere from Côte D’Ivoire.

The match is expected to be played on November 29 at 1500hrs.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced match officials expected to take charge of Asante Kotoko’s Champions League Preliminary round match against FC Nouadhibou.

The Porcupine Warriors will travel to Mauritania for the first leg tie scheduled for November 27, 2020.

Gaousou Kane has been named as Referee for the match and will be assisted by his compatriots Baba Yomboliba and Amadou Belly Gisse Amadou.

 Boubou Traore will be the 4th Official with Aboulikaecem Abdellah from Morocco as the Match Commissioner.

The game is expected to be played at Stade de Municipal de Nouadhibou.

Ghana Premier League club, AshantiGold SC, have been pitted against Burkinabe side, Salitas FC in the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round of matches after Monday’s draw.



The duo will meet eachother in a two legged tie, Ashgold will welcome their visitors in the first leg in between comes 27 – 29 November 2020.

Whiles the Burkinabe side will get the nod in the second leg when they play host to Ashgold from 4 – 6 December 2020.

The winner of duel will fancy their chances against the winner of the match between Sudanese club Alamal Atbara and KVZ Sports Club of Zanzibar.

Salitas would be heavily buoyed coming into this fixture against the miners having won the Burkina Faso Cup and Super Cup in 2018.

Ghanaian club owner, Alhaji Grusah, has warned Ghanaian Premier League duo Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Obuasi Ashantigold against playing in next year’s CAF club competitions.

In an interview with Ashh FM in Kumasi, the outspoken club administrator said, they are ill-prepared for the task ahead, “Allow them to go and disgrace themselves, they represented the country during the era of the Normalization Committee but brought nothing better but shame to the country because of their shambolic performances.” he ended.

Kotoko fell to Nigeria’s Kano Pillars at the first time of asking 4-3 on aggregate, while AshGold were ousted by Morocco’s RS Berkane in the Confed Cup

In a related development, former Asante Kotoko striker Eric Bekoe also advised his former club to refuse the lure in playing in Africa’s biggest club continental showpiece CAF Champions League when it returns next season.

According to the former goal poacher, who made headlines during his playing stint in the Ghana Premier League, terrorizing defenders believes the Porcupine Warriors are not in the right condition (financially, player quality, preparations) amongst other factors, hence should decline the lure of playing in Africa.

Asante Kotoko will begin residential camping at the Sports Hotel in Kumasi on Monday ahead of the CAF Confederation Cup playoff match against FC San-Pedro of Cote d’Ivoire on Sunday.

The Porcupines will host the Ivorian side at the Baba Yara Stadium in the first leg with the hope of recording a scoreline big enough to cushion them in the final tie to be played at the Stade Auguste Denise in San-Pedro a week after.

Kotoko Coach Kjetil Zachariassen is sending 23 players to camp ahead of the duel. Sixteen players, however, will report today as Kwame Baah, who is with the Black Meteors, and the six players at the Black Stars B camp will join the squad later.

The players will remain at the Sports Hotel until the team departs to the neighboring West African country for the second leg slated for November 3, 2019.

Asante Kotoko will play Inter Allies on Wednesday and the national U-23 side on Sunday, as management reveals the programme of the team ahead of their first game in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Porcupine Warriors will play the winner of the first preliminary round match between Kariobangi Sharks of Kenya and Alter Solar of Djibouti, though the former has taken a giant lead after a 6-1 win in the first leg.

Coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor and his lads have been camping in Accra since last Saturday, and are training at the Zeytuna Park at Kasoa as they intensify their preparations for the duel.

“The team will play Inter Allies in a friendly at the Accra Sports Stadium at 3:30 PM on Wednesday, and drive straight to Aburi in the Eastern Region, after the match, for another training camp,” Director of Communications, Samuel Sarfo Duku (Esq), confirmed to asantekotoksc.com on Monday.

“Asante Kotoko will also play the Black Meteors on Sunday, December 9, 2018, and return to Aburi to continue with their preparations until they fly to either Kenya or Djibouti on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, for the first leg match.”

“The first leg game in either Kenya or Djibouti has been slated for either 15th or 16th December, and the team will leave Accra on December 12, this year and return after the game on Sunday,” he further stressed.
