]]> President Akufo-Addo splashes $350k reward on Black Satellites

Ghana President Akufo-Addo has announced a $350,000 cash reward for the Black Satellites team for coming out tops in the recently held Africa U-20 Cup 2021 of Nations held in Mauritania.



The president met the players, technical team, and management team in the early hours of Tuesday at the Jubilee House in Accra to officially congratulate them on their success.

The U-20 team won the trophy for the fourth time in their history following 2-0 wins over debutants Uganda on the country’s 64th birthday.

Akufo-Addo announced that each team member will receive $10,000 but in the meantime, an amount of $5,000 will be disbursed to them.

The president of the land appreciated four outstanding members coach Karim Zito, captain Daniel Afriyie, Ibrahim Danland(best goalkeeper), Fatawu Isshaku(best player) with a tune of $5,000.

]]> Black Satellites drawn against Nigeria & Cote D’Ivoire in WAFU ‘B’ Qualifying Tournament

The National U20 Male team, Black Satellites have been drawn alongside Nigeria and Cote D’Ivoire in Group B of the WAFU Qualifying tournament to be staged in Togo.




This was confirmed after a virtual draw which was held in Abidjan on Tuesday, October 20.

Host Nation Togo and Nigeria, who placed 3rd in the last U20 AFCON were drawn bye in Group A and Group B respectively.

In Group A, Togo have been drawn alongside Niger, Benin, and Burkina Faso.

The tournament is scheduled to be staged between November 14 -29, 2020.

]]> Ghana Black Satellites will arrive in Ghana on Tuesday, 12 of February after their exit from the CAF U20 Cup Od Nations.




Reports are suggesting that the team was scheduled to arrive in Ghana on Monday but had difficulties getting flights to Accra.

The Blac Satellites exited the tournament after a defeat to Mali in a game where they needed only a draw to qualify for the semis and for the U20 World Cup in Poland.

Jimmy Cobblah, the u20 coach earlier stated that their shortcomings in the competition was due to lack of local football and he had to settle for ‘foreign’ players.

]]> Ghana failed to qualify for the U2O World Cup for the second time in a row after suffering a narrow defeat against Mali on Saturday in the final group game of the U20 Cup of Nations.




Hadji Drame’s goal was enough to stop the Black Satellites from reaching the semis and qualify for the U2O World Cup.

Mali joins Senegal from group B as semi-finalist, and will represent Africa in the U20 World Cup that will take place in Poland.

]]> Ghana started their U20 Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a win against Burkina Faso in Niger, Daniel Lomotey’s brace was enough to see the Black Satellites grab a deserved win.

The game started in a very slow manner as both teams struggled to keep the ball and string passes.

Ghana opened the scoring few minutes before half time with a cheeky chip from Lomotey who shrugged off a defender to lob the ball pass the Burnika Faso goalkeeper.

Burkina Faso came close to restoring parity when Dianda’s shot hit the bar, Dianda was surprisingly subbed off just minutes before half time.

Daniel Lomotey completed his brace 77th minute with another chip to seal the game.

Ghana Black Satellites will look to maintain their winning momentum when they meet Senegal in their next fixture.

Senegal already grabbed their first three points when they beat Mali 2-0 on Sunday.

]]> Ghana will wait till Monday to play their first game in the u20 Africa Cup Of Nations after their game against Burkina Faso originally scheduled for Sunday was called off.

Reports reveal that the game was rescheduled due to problems with the floodlights at the venue, organizers can’t seem to have an immediate solution to the problem and that is why the teams will play tomorrow at 16:30.

VIDEO: Nigeria beat Burundi, Niger held by South Africa in the CAF U20 AFCON

The decision will not affect the first match of the group as Senegal were scheduled to take on Mali at 16:30.

The U20 AFCON kicked off yesterday, Nigeria beat Burundi while Niger were held by South Africa in their respective opening games.

]]> Ghana coach Jimmy Cobblah has submitted his final 21-man squad to CAF for the 2019 U20 Cup of Nations in Niger which starts this weekend.

Niger is the host nation for this year’s championship which is slated to kick off on Saturday 2nd February, 2019 and is expected to end 17th February, 2019.

Ghana have been drawn in group “B” alongside Burkina Faso, Senegal and Mail.

The first four teams will book their ticket to the 2019 FIFA 20 World Cup in Poland.

The Black Satellites dominated the first half and forced the Phobians to play from the back, they had opportunities to open the scoring early but the Hearts defence stood firm in the first forty five minutes of the game.

Kofi Kordzi scored his second after tapping in a cross from Dan Kordie to double the lead for the Phobians, the Black Satellites snatched a consolation through Nathaniel Agye.
