Kotoko will be wondering what hit them as they lost to Wydad Athletic Club in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday, October 19, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Kotoko found chances a few as they created little to nothing in the first half, but the second half was different.
Two minutes after recess, Joseph Bakasu struck from close range from Lorch’s corner for the opener, which dashed the hopes of the Kotoko players who were getting into the first gear of the game.
Mohammed Camara was sent off two minutes after Kotoko conceded, which compounded the misery of the Reds further in the game.
WATCH HIGHLIGHTS:

Camara handled the ball outside the penalty box, prompting the referee to send him off as the last man.
Kotoko tried to find the equalizer, but Donso’s tap-in was flagged offside by the second linesman, much to the relief of the Wydad bench, who rallied their side on to victory.
The Porcupine Warriors will have all to play for on Friday, October 24, in Casablanca.

Kotoko lost the plot against Moroccan club Wydad in the first leg of the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederations Cup game at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Ghanaian team lost at home by a goal to nil.
Both teams put their best foot in front, but it was the away side that created the most chances in the first half, but failed to make the most of them.
Two minutes after recess, the away team was awarded a corner kick from which Joseph Bakasu connected effortlessly from Lorch’s corner kick to slot pass Mohammed Camara in post for Kotoko.
The Guinea goalkeeper would receive his marching orders two minutes later after he stopped a goal-bound opportunity from the Morocco team outside his designated 18-yard box.
Abdul Karim Zito’s hand was forced following the red card to his number one goalkeeper, bringing on Aziz Dari for Walid and Antwi for Peter Amidu, who was profligate in the first half.
There were chances for Emmanuel Antwi, Gyau, but they all failed to beat the goalkeeper Benabib in the post for Wydad.
The Moroccan team holds the advantage in the lead-up to the return leg on Friday, October 24, 2025.

The Ghanaian side, playing in their maiden continental duel, were hoping to make a good impression against the visitors.

The first half came to a close with the away side in the lead. 1-0.
The second half saw both teams create a myriad of chances, but the away side was on hand to double their lead.
A well-worked team goal saw Guinea midfielder, Babacar Sarr tap in from close range to give his side a two-goal advantage.
The Ghanain side will have it all to do in the return leg on Sunday, September,28,2025, at 20:00 (Local Time) at the Hocine Aït Ahmed Stadium, Algeria.
