Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has been elected to serve as a member of the CAF’s  Executive Committee.

 



The Ghanaian football administrator got the nod to serve with 24 other members for a four-year mandate which runs from now to 2029.

Mr.Okraku’s appointment sterns from the development of the game at the grassroot level, ensuring that the women’s football gets the needed recognition and support as well as other viable areas of football in the country.

The GFA President adds up to a number of Ghanaians (Ohene Djan, Kobina Hagan, Nana Fredua Mensah, Samuel Okyere, and Kwesi Nyantakyi) who have in times past served on the CAF’s ExCo.

South African billionaire Dr Patrice Motsepe has been re-elected  CAF President at the 14th CAF Extraordinary General Assembly on Wednesday 12 March, 2025 in Cairo, Egypt.



The Billionaire was undecided about re-contesting for the CAF presidency but went ahead to make his move official in October 2024.

He yielded to calls from member associations to contest for the elections.

The first tenure of Motsepe witness a great revival in CAF. This saw the Association settle some outstanding debts, increase in its revenue, increase of competitions prize monies to participating countries and other significant gains on the African terrain.

The  2023 Africa Cup of Nations held in Cote d’Ivoire was touted as the most exciting and well organization competition of all times saw a staggering  2 billion viewers across 180 countries and raking in  $72 million profit from the tournament.

The introduction of the African Football League (AFL) in August 2022 had 24 teams involved.

The South African will hope to rally immense support from member countries for the next four years to position African football strategically  on the global stage.
