Ghana Black Stars captain Andre Ayew has been named the Vice-Captain of his club Swansea City.

The forward was made Vice-Captain by his Swansea coach Steve Cooper who praised the Ghanaian’s positive influence on the dressing room.

Steve Cooper praised the impact Ayew has made since returning from African Cup of Nations duty late in the summer.

“Andre is a senior figure and a very positive influence around the group,” said Cooper.

“We know there is a bit of a status to being captain or vice-captain, but we do have senior figures in the squad.

“Andre has got the attributes to lead, and he does it well through good and bad moments and long may that continue.

“It’s good for Matt as well to have players like Andre, Wayne, and Nathan around him.

“Andre is a good role model and leader, I think there is a good culture here everyone helps each other but pushes each other. That’s a good thing.”

Swansea City coach Steve Cooper heaps praise on Adre Ayew after the Ghanaian forward came off the bench and scored twice for his team in the Carabao cup.

The forward came off the bench in the 62nd minute to helped his side seal a 3-1 win against Northampton.

His manager was pleased with his performance after the game and expressed his delight over his performance.

“That’s exactly what we know he can do. He’s come back into the club after the international break in very good condition.

“He looks extremely motivated in training and tonight was about giving him the right amount of minutes..” he added

The Ayew brothers; Andre and Jordan might be on their way out of Swansea City after the Club Chairman’s latest statement on the club squad.

Swansea Club Chairman Trevor Birch said that the salary of three players in the team will eventually cripple the club if nothing is done.

“It is a given that we have to get them off the payroll. Anything else we receive on top will be a bonus. Their wages are potentially crippling the club,”  Birch told walesonline when asked about the Ayew brothers and Borja.

Andre Ayew spent last season on loan at Fenerbahce while Jordan was in the premier league with Crystal Palace.

Andre Ayew won’t be staying at Fenerbahce on a permanent basis after announcing his departure a few days after the Turkish Super Lig ended.

Ayew spoke to Fener’s official TV station after the game: ”First of all I want to thank the fans, the club, and the staff. I am leaving this great club with lots of experience. It was a very tough year for us but at least we have managed to finish the season strongly.

”Let’s hope Fenerbahce have a great season in the next campaign. Speaking personally, I have to say that I should have done better. This is a huge club and the memories will remain with me forever.’

Ayew will return to Swansea after scoring just five goals in 38 appearances for Fenerbahce.
