The game between Ebusua Dwarfs and Legon Cities in Cape Coast was abandoned on Sunday afternoon after the match officials refused to return to the pitch for the second half.

Legon Cities official Twitter handle tweeted and stated that the referee’s failure to report to the pitch in the second half was due to threats he received from the home fans as the referee didn’t “feel safe to continue”.

After the tweet, the home side Ebusua Dwarfs used their Twitter handle to deny news that fans threatened the officials during the game in Cape Coast.

GPL Match Preview and Prediction: Medeama vs Legon Cities

Tarkwa based Medeama SC is one of few teams to win seven consecutive matches at home. They have racked an impressive twenty-one (21) points at home in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.

They come up against Legon Cities at the Akoon Park, who defied all odds to hand; Great Olympics their first loss of the second round seeing them cede the position to Kotoko their opponents for this weekend.

The Mauve and Yellow side are slowly picking up the pace, they have three points from a possible six in two matches of the second round.

Their recent acquisitions have hit the ground running, Ahmed Toure has hit four in four for his side, he will be a huge miss for the weekend’s fixture but there are able men in Prince Opoku Agyemang, Zakaria Mumuni, Abass Mohammed, Justice Blay who will be at their lethal best when they faceoff with the Royals.

Legon Cities are still struggling to pitch the pieces together in the league; it’s no doubt that they have picked a paltry seven points from fifteen.

Hans Kwoffie (9) haven’t disappointed since his move from AshGold, Jonas Attuquaye (4), Clement Danso (3) have supported in the goal-scoring but to upset the home side they will have to give off their positive best for a good result away in Tarkwa.

Both sets on different ends of the table, the home side, occupy the 4th spot on the log whiles Legon Cities are a place above the relegation belt.

Legon Cities welcome the table toppers of the league Great Olympics in what has been classified by many as the Accra derby.

Both clubs at present are on opposite ends of the league log, the Royals after the charade of signings in pre-season and mid-season are still yet to hit the ground running not even the funfair signing of injury-plagued Asamoah Gyan has helped matters.

The Accra-based side occupies the 15th position on the log with 19 points something Bashir Hayford may have to remedy in the coming weeks or face the boot if results continue to take a nosedive.

For Accra Great Olympics, they have wowed their fans and mesmerized football lovers with their present achievements, a season past, they were battling relegation, fast-forward to this season, their stats are just amazing to say the least.

Coach Annor Walker has impressively assembled a setup that has played wholeheartedly to his instructions on the field, it’s no doubt they have amassed 33 points with 13 points coming away from home.

The leadership of Gladson Awako has been evident for all to see, the input of the young Maxwell Quaye, Ashie-Quaye, Kasim Razak and others cannot be underestimated.

Legon Cities may have lost ground in the last two games but the likes of Hans Kwoffie (9) and the arrival of former Ghana Premier League goal king, Victorien Adebayor might just be what they need for a revival.

Legon Cities 2-1 Great Olympics

Ghana Premier League giants, Hearts of Oak are said to have expressed strong ambitions to sign former Inter Allies striker, Victorien Adebayor in the ongoing transfer window.

The Nigerien international was purported to have agreed on a move to Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities last week but fresh reports emerging from the camp of Hearts of Oak indicate that he is said to be interested in a move to the capital-based club.

Hearts of Oak have in recent times, made giant strides in competing for honors by poaching former Medeama trainer, Samuel Boadu into their ranks as well as former Eleven Wonders maxman Ibrahim Salifu.

The talented striker was a cult hero in the truncated league netting 23 goals in 27 games for the Capelli boys before his exit to join HB Koge on loan.

If he manages to join the Rainbow side, he will challenge for a starting berth role with Victor Aidoo, Kwame Obeng Junior, Isaac Mensah and Abednego Tetteh.

The Ohene Ameyaw Park will witness the ultimate game for the first round of the ongoing Ghana Premier League 2020-21 season when Techiman Eleven Wonders play host to rejuvenated Legon Cities for matchday 17 on Sunday.

The hosts have been largely inconsistent in the current season but one thing that will offer them a glimmer of hope is their 14 points they have accrued from their 7 games at home.

The Techiman based club occupies the 15th position on the log a spot above the drop zone with 17 points something head coach, Ignatius Osei Fosu will be hoping to change this weekend should the odds favour him against the Royals.

The Royals on the other hand have seen some positives in the last few games, they are currently unbeaten in eight games something they will be looking to better against the home side.

Bashiru Hayford will be a happy man this weekend considering the armory at his disposal, the likes of Hans Kwoffie has hit the ground running scoring 3 in 2 games aiding his goal tally to eight for the season, Jonas Attuquaye(3), Charles Danso(3), the resumption of Asamoah Gyan’s training as well as the loan signing of prolific predator Victorien Adebayor joining the side this week from HB Koge.

But Eleven Wonders will miss the services of talisman Ibrahim Salifu who joined Hearts of Oak in the window.

It promises to be a match of equal halves, with the away side having the upper hand in terms of previous duels, winning one and drawing the other in two games.

Prediction: Techiman Eleven Wonders 2-2 Legon Cities.

Victorien Adje Adebayor is back in the country from Danish club HB Koge joining Ghana Premier League setup Legon Cities FC on a short-term deal.

HB Koge confirmed the departure of the lanky forward to Legon Cities in a loan move that will last for the second round of the ongoing Ghana Premier League 2020/2021 campaign.

The 24-year old crossed carpets to join Danish second-tier side from Ghana Premier League outfit Inter Allies FC in October 2020 after an impressive outing in the recently truncated league.

During his stay on Ghana, he managed an impressive 12 goals in 13 matches to the admiration of football lovers in the country and beyond.

Hopefully, his signing will propel Legon Cities to a favourable finish following the recent acquisitions of Richmond Antwi, Hans Kwofie and Justice Anane.

Hearts of Oak were held by Legon Cities at the Accra Sports Stadium behind closed doors on Sunday in Matchweek 13 of the Ghana Premier League, Obeng Jnr’s late strike rescued a point for the Phobians.

Kosta Papic’s team are now winless in their last three games in the Ghana Premier League. Legon Cities almost handed the Phobians their third defeat in a row but Obeng Jnr’s 86th-minute strike snatched a point for Hearts.

Hearts of Oak currently find themselves 9th in the Ghana Premier League table and could move lower depending on the outcome of the remaining Matchweek 13 fixtures.

Accra Hearts of Oak are in a precarious situation as we speak, it’s unheard of, for the capital-based club to lose two consecutive matches in recent times but sadly that’s their fate now.

The team started very well under new coach Kosta Papic, the man that led the club to their last league triumph a decade ago, brushing Dreams, Bechem United aside amongst other results were seen as the turning point in the fortunes of the club but recent losses to bitter regional rivals Great Olympics and an away loss to Medeama SC has certainly bruised the Oak boys.

This week, they face off with a resurgent, Legon Cities FC side in Week 13 of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League the Accra Sports Stadium.

The away side gave former Ghana Premier League champions Ashgold the beating of their lives, as well as, picking a point to Karela United which has aided them to pick 9 points from a possible 15.

The likes of Victor Aidoo(4), K.Obeng(3), U.Manaf(3) have scored 10 goals but would have to up their proficiency in goals in order to help their side to an admirable finish.

The Rainbow Club are in 11th position with 16 points while Legon Cities FC sit 14th with 13 points.
