In the last few weeks, Accra Hearts of Oak have been resolute with their performances in the league even though their competitors are also within touching distance of reclaiming the top spot; they have done everything within their realms to stay at the summit of the table.

This weekend at the Accra Sports Stadium, they come face-to-face with another setup, Medeama SC, that holds a long-standing ambition of winning the league, it’s first in the clubs history.

Samuel Boadu’s boys have won all their last five games at home an enviable feat in the league; the second team to coup most 33 points at home two shy of Dawu based Dreams FC, who has picked 35 points at home.

The home side are beaming with lots of confidence even though the only glitch to their fine form is their inability to break down their bitter city rivals Great Olympics a week past in a match that drew a large gathering to the stadium.

The Mauve and Yellow boys on the other hand are not enjoying the best of forms in the last five games, picking up a scanty 4 points aiding their overall 13 points playing away from home in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.

Yaw Acheampong will rely on the proficiency of Prince Opoku Agyemang, Ahmed Toure Zakaria Mumuni, who has combined efforts to score 12 goals in their last few outings aided by Richard Boadu, Tetteh Joseph, Yaro Ibrahim, and others.

This match presents an avenue for both sides in diverse ways to increase their point accumulated or close the gap at the top of the summit of the table.

GPL Match Preview and Prediction: Medeama vs Ashantigold

In the last five games that Medeama SC have played, they have picked 10 points from a possible 15 points which has seen them cede their position in the top four to the 5th position.

This weekend, they face off with former champions, AshGold, who have picked a paltry 7 points in their last five games as well as 9 points from their away duels in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.

For Yaw Preko and his ably quality setup, this game is a make or break for them, having lost two consecutive matches, a home loss to WAFA SC, and an away loss to Aduana SC at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park has awakened the demon in them.

Trio returnees Prince Opoku Agyemang, Ahmed Toure, Zakaria Mumuni have combined efforts to score 14 goals in their last few games, though the absence of Justice Blay has been felt in the midfield zone, the likes Rashid Nortey, Richard Boadu, Kwasi Donsu are expected to up their game this weekend.

The Aboakaese lads are 9th on the log with 34 points; Yaw Annor, David Sandan Abagna, and Appiah McCarthy have scored 19 out of the club’s 37 goals in the ongoing league of which they will be looking to go a position better.

The duo has drawn four times from 11 duels with the others ending in draws.

GPL Match Preview and Prediction: Medeama vs WAFA

Last week’s matchday twenty-three (23) saw Medeama SC lost some grounds on their title ambitions when they failed to score past Liberty Professionals at the Sogakope Red Bull Arena.

To some extent, the morale in camp would be at a low but the onus lies on the head coach, Yaw Preko to light up the playing body spirits when they play Sogakope based side, WAFA at the Akoon Park.

With Medeama SC heading into this duel, their home invincibility should give them the edge over their weekend opponents.

The Mauve and Yellow side have won their last five games convincingly, which has aided their point accumulation at home to 27 points.

The likes of Prince Agyemang, Ahmed Toure, and Zakaria Mumuni have been impressive since joining up with the squad aiding in twelve goals in as many matches that the trio have played together.

WAFA SC on the other hand, bruised following their first home loss in over six years against title ambitious side, Great Olympics will give this game their all knowing that a win will boost them up to 6th on the log if other results switch up in their favor.

Coach Prosper Narteh and his boys have since picked twelve (12) point playing away from home and if they don’t play well beyond expectations they won’t be able to add up to their two previous victories over the home side having lost four times and drawing two in eight games that they have engaged the two-time FA Cup champions.

Predictions: Medeama SC 2-0 WAFA

GPL Match Preview and Prediction: Medeama vs Ebusua Dwarfs

In the last three seasons, Medeama SC have come close to winning the Ghana Premier League but for varied reasons, they couldn’t annex a trophy that has been nosing in their trophy cabinet since its establishment.

Last week, they made a huge statement when they beat record holders of the league, Kotoko away from home, currently they sit at the summit on the table with a home tie against Ebusua Dwarfs.

The inclusions of Prince Opoku Agyemang, Ahmed Toure, Zakaria Mumuni have certainly paid dividends as the team is playing with renewed confidence, belief, and a massive pool of understanding to complement efforts in their quest to win the league.

The Mauve and Yellow side come up against Ebusua Dwarfs side who smashed another title eyeing side, Great Olympics for four at Cape Coast only a week past aiding them to 11th on the league log.

The away side have had a topsy-turvy campaign under coach Ernest Thompson Quartey spurred on by their home victory over Olympics they will be looking to cause a major scalp against Medeama in Tarkwa.

Medeama SC looks like the side to steal all three points but the Crabs may have something special under their claws to cause a major upset in this fixture at the Akoon Park.

GPL Match Preview and Prediction: Kotoko vs Medeama

It is the top-of-the-table clash between Asante Kotoko and Medeama SC at the Obuasi Ley Clay Sports Stadium. The duo clubs have their eye set on the most coveted prize: the Ghana Premier League 2020-21 season league.

The record holders of the league are coming into this fixture, on the back of drawing goalless with Great Olympics in Accra, and have enjoyed an upturn in form notching 11 from 15 points since the appointment of Mariano Barreto.

This week Life Patron of the club, Otumfour Osei Tutu II, released a significant amount of money to settle arrears of old players, new players, auxiliary staff, which will come as a big boost in camp heading into a tough duel against the Tarkwa based club.

Under the tutelage of Yaw Preko and Acheampong, Medeama SC has climbed up the ladder, currently occupying the 3rd position on the log with 33 points.

Their ability to have picked 10 from 15 points in the last five games makes them tough opponents for Kotoko to crack.

The absence of poster boy, Justice Blay will be deeply felt but the depth in quality at Yaw Preko’s disposal should aid him to present a formidable team that should be able to shred the Kumasi Galacticos into shreds.

In twenty-seven (27) meetings that the pair have met, the Reds have won twelve (12) whiles the other six (6) have ended in favor of Mauve and Yellow side with the others ending in draws.
