GPL Match Preview and Prediction: Hearts vs Medeama

In the last few weeks, Accra Hearts of Oak have been resolute with their performances in the league even though their competitors are also within touching distance of reclaiming the top spot; they have done everything within their realms to stay at the summit of the table.

This weekend at the Accra Sports Stadium, they come face-to-face with another setup, Medeama SC, that holds a long-standing ambition of winning the league, it’s first in the clubs history.

Samuel Boadu’s boys have won all their last five games at home an enviable feat in the league; the second team to coup most 33 points at home two shy of Dawu based Dreams FC, who has picked 35 points at home.

The home side are beaming with lots of confidence even though the only glitch to their fine form is their inability to break down their bitter city rivals Great Olympics a week past in a match that drew a large gathering to the stadium.

The Mauve and Yellow boys on the other hand are not enjoying the best of forms in the last five games, picking up a scanty 4 points aiding their overall 13 points playing away from home in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.

Yaw Acheampong will rely on the proficiency of Prince Opoku Agyemang, Ahmed Toure Zakaria Mumuni, who has combined efforts to score 12 goals in their last few outings aided by Richard Boadu, Tetteh Joseph, Yaro Ibrahim, and others.

This match presents an avenue for both sides in diverse ways to increase their point accumulated or close the gap at the top of the summit of the table.

Predictions: Hearts of Oka 1- 0 Medeama SC

GPL Match Preview and Prediction: Liberty vs Medeama

Dansoman based Liberty Professionals were on the verge of clinching their fourth consecutive victory of the ongoing league but Accra Great Olympics stopped them in their brakes beating them by 2-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

With that disappointment fresh in memory, they come up against title ambitious side, Medeama SC at their newly adopted home, Sogakope Red Bull Arena for the remainder of the league.

As things stand, Liberty lie a position above the relegation drop zone with 24 points, a position they will be looking to change by the end of match proceedings over the weekend.

The Mauve and Yellow side are on a mission in the league, and it’s no doubt that, after their shocking victory over record holders of the league, Kotoko, lots of pundits have pointed fingers at them as favorites for the league.

They haven’t disappointed so far, the acquisitions of Prince Opoku Agyemang, Ahmed Toure have combined armory to score 11 goals out of 12 games they have featured ably backed by the impressive Zakaria Mumuni, Eric Kwakwa, Rashid Nortey, Ibrahim Yaro, and others.

Medeama have since picked 12 points playing away from home boasting their points tally to 39 points aiding them to the summit of the table.

In the last five years, both sides have had to settle for two wins each, drawing five out of nine games.

Both teams are in search of the maximum points for varied reasons, it remains to be seen who come out tops will should any take his chances created on the day.

Prediction: Liberty Professionals 1-1 Medeama SC

The Disciplinary Committee of the GFA ruled on Monday that Medeama SC fielded an unqualified player when the two sides clashed at the Akoon Community Park in match week 12 of the now-suspended Ghana Premier League.

In the said match, the home side fielded Nana Kofi Babil, who had received three prior bookings and should have served a one-match ban was fielded by his side against Olympics which they ultimately won by a solitary goal.

The Disciplinary finalized its decision to –

i. To award three points, three goals to Olympics meaning Medeama will cede the spot at the summit to Aduana, from 30 to 27 points.

  1. Pay a fine of $1,000 fine of which Olympics will get 50% of that amount.

Ghana Premier League: Opoku Agyemang breaks Legon Cities heart

A Prince Opoku Agyemang brace ensured that Medeama S.C continued their winning streak posting a 2-0 victory over Legon Cities at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Both sides were coming into this fixture with the sole objective of winning and boasting their position on the log.

The away side started the early exchanges with so much purpose upfront stringing multiple intricate passes to unsettle the defense of the home side. It was no surprise to see one of the leagues prolific goal scorers covert his first of the evening after he was teed up by a teammate inside the penalty area of the home side in the 12 minutes. He wheeled away in a Harland Esque celebration before his teammates joined in on the party.

It wasn’t long after the Royals were unsettled yet again by Prince Opoku Agyemang to score his side’s second, his 10th,11th of the season to cap the night in victory for Samuel Boadu’s and his charges.

The results see Medeama top the log with 30 points momentarily awaiting other results particularly the Bechem and Aduana clash at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on Sunday.”The Royals” lie 13th with 16 points.
