Kotoko learned from Medeama defeat – Mariano Barreto

Asante Kotoko boss Mariano Barreto has applauded his team for learning from their previous mistakes to come from behind to grab an important win against Dreams FC on Saturday.

The Porcupines registered a 3-1 win against Dreams FC to climb up to the league table after Gameweek 23.

Mariano Barreto attributed his team’s fighting spirit to the lesson they learned from defeat against Medeama in Gameweek 21.

“We didn’t give up (after conceding), it was in the hard moment we started remembering what happened against Medeama,” he said

“This is why we are working hard to try to solve these problems and we equalized. In the second half, we created a number of chances of goals and it was too much for Dreams” he added.

Asante Kotoko host Ebusua Dwarfs in their next game and will be looking to maintain their spot at the top of the table.

Great Olympics failed to do a double over inform Kumasi Asante Kotoko when the pair played out a drab goalless draw at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday night.

Zakaria Mumuni delighted with win over Dreams FC

Medeama SC newly-signed talented winger, Zakaria Mumuni is overly delighted with his contributions in a 2-0 victory over fellow Ghana Premier League club Dreams FC at the Tarkwa T&A Park.

The versatile winger was handed his debut last week by head coach, Yaw Preko in which they lost to then table toppers, Great Olympics at the Accra Sports Stadium but in his home debut, he made it count the most when he assisted fellow new signing, Ahmed Toure’s second goal with a sumptuous free-kick.

The 23-year old is one of many players, who were recruited in the just-ended transfer window to propel the Mauve and Yellow outfit to its first Ghana Premier League trophy.

In an interview with Saharafootball.net after his side’s victory, he shared his thoughts on the overall game stating it’s difficult but in the end their triumph.

“It was a tough game in general and we manage to utilize our chances and they also have some good chances as well,” he said

When queried further about his performance on the day, he shared that with a glowing smile on his face,

“For my performance, it was good, you’ll admit that I have been out of action for a while now but gradually with the games coming thick and fast I will keep improving match after match,

” I nearly scored today, but unfortunately my opponent(Suleiman) kicked me, which resulted in a red card, I am proud of today’s personal and team effort”.

GPL Match Preview and Prediction: Medeama vs Dreams FC

On the back of losing to Accra Great Olympics through a solitary, Samuel Ashie-Quaye goal at the Accra Sports Stadium, Medeama SC, will be hoping to bounce back quickly, as they play host to Dreams FC at the Tarkwa T&A Park.

Both sets of clubs are interestingly tied on 27 points separated by positions 5th and 6th respectively.

The home side, have undergone a plethora of changes from technical to playing body, the appointment of Yaw Preko and Yaw Acheampong is viewed by many as a statement of intent from the top hierarchy of the two-time FA Cup winners, the signing of Zakaria Mumuni, Ahmed Toure, Vincent Atinga and the arrival of the deadly prolific gem, Prince Opoku Agyemang will have oppositions gasping for shelter once they gel into a single unit in the coming weeks.

For the Still Believe boys, they will want to better their 7 points amassed on the road thus far in the league once they play the Mauve and Yellows at a ground, which they are yet to lose in their last six outings.

Joseph Esso (11) MC Algiers bound, A.Baoteng Mensah (5), Issah Ibrahim (4) have combined efforts to score almost half of their 27 goals and will have to play above their weight levels if they want to get a positive result on the road.

Medeama SC look imperious at home and it will take something out of the ordinary for Dreams FC to beat them away from home.

Prediction: Medeama SC 2-0 Dreams FC

GPL Match Preview: WAFA vs Dreams FC

WAFA sent strong signals in week 11 of the ongoing Ghana Premier League 2020-21 season when they dispatched Liberty Professionals by 5-0 goals at the Sogakope Red Bull Arena.

This result by any virtue should send shivers down the spine of anyone coming to town, next up on the list is Dreams FC.

The “Still believe” side are slowly picking up the pace in the ongoing league under new coach Vladislav Viric, players are responding to tactics and results are trickling in bit by bit, managing a 2-2 draw over the weekend against Elmina Sharks.

They have since picked 4 points in away turfs, the likes of Joseph Esso (4), Paul Okraku (3), would need to improve their goal scoring traits if they are to win or pick anything in their clash against WAFA.

The home side might have lost Daniel Lomotey (8) to ES Setiff, Tunisia but Augustine Boakye (4) is slowly carving a niche for himself in the central role.

If WAFA win they will improve on their 4th spot on the log with 18 points while Dreams will also move up the ladder from their 10th position should the results sway in their favor.

Dreams FC appoints Serbian tactician Vladislav Viric as new head coach

Ghana Premier League season, Dreams FC has appointed Serbian tactician Vladislav Viric as their new head coach.

The club in the off-season signed a number of top players giving fans the morale that this could be the year they get their hands on the enviable Ghana Premier League title.

Unfortunately under Coach Winfred Dormon, the Dawu-based club has just flattered to deceive.

The team after seven matches into the season currently sits in the relegation zone with a record of one win, three draws, and three defeats as well.

Sensing that the team could be in a relegation battle for most parts of the season, Dreams FC has decided to bring in a new technical head.

The club has today appointed Serbian trainer Vladislav Viric as their new Head Coach for the remainder of the season.

It is, however, unclear if he will be in the dugout this weekend when Dreams FC take on Ebusua Dwarfs in the Ghana Premier League or wait for the matchday nine match.

Bechem United made their superiority count over former league leaders, Karela United at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park. Both sides were amongst three teams yet to lose in five games honored so far in the league. Goals from Steven Owusu, Listowel Amankonah, and a Diawusie Taylor consolation in between helped the Hunters to their third win of the season.

Legon Cities will be wondering what hit them on Friday night against Ebusua Dwarfs as they succumbed to a 1-2 loss at their own backyard, Accra Sports Stadium. The Royals were on a rampant spending spree over the summer transfer but the impact of their transfer dealings have not been positively felt as yet. The Crabs on the other will be smiling back to Cape Coast with joy in their hearts, as they sit 10th on the log with 7 points.

GPL Match Preview and Prediction: Great Olympics set to slay WAFA

King Faisal failed to recover from their midweek outstanding heavy battering to AshGold losing to Accra Hearts of Oak in a closely knitted affair at the Ohene Ameyaw Park. A last gap Umar Manaf penalty condemned the Insha Allah boys to yet another defeat in the Ghana Premier League; their fourth of the season.

A Benjamin Tweneboah penalty ensured that the home side, Elmina Sharks were victors over Inter Allies at the Ndoum Stadium. The Sharks responded positively to their heavy drubbing at the hands of touted favorites of the league, Ashgold when they faced off with the Capelli Boys. Coach Henrik Lehm and his boys will need to regroup when the festive period is over considering they face a relegation dogfight.

The topliner of the week happened at the Dawu Park between Dreams FC and Asante Kotoko. On the back of losing to Hearts of Oak, they were looking to get improved performance over Kotoko, who had to do away with their head coach, Maxwell Konadu, after a string of losses, draws coupled with inconsistent performances. In the end, an Ibrahim Imoro goal in the first helped the visitors clinch three vital points pushing them to 7th sinking the ‘Still Believe’ boys to 15th.

In other games, Medeama SC and Liberty settled for a point each at T&A park, a Gladson Awako goal was enough for Great Olympics, who recorded their second successive victory in less than a week boasting them up to 3rd with 10 points, Coach Ignatius Osei-Fosu failed to spur his boys on against Obuasi based AshantiGold as they both shared the spoils. Aduana Stars were held by Berekum Chelsea.
