GPL Match Preview and Prediction: Great Olympics vs Aduana

The Accra Sports Stadium will witness a mouthwatering midweek clash between two former Ghana Premier League champions, Accra Great Olympics and Aduana stars.

The duo is coming into this fixture with contrasting domestic forms, hopes, and aspirations, the home side are brewing with loads of confidence after doing the impossible against WAFA SC, who had not lost a match at the Sogakope Red Bull Arena in over six years.

Coach Annor Walker and his boys sit 2nd a point adrift Kumasi Asante Kotoko, they have played above expectations this season for a team that was nearing the exit of the premier league a season past but for its truncation.

The likes of Gladson Awako, Maxwell Quaye, Ashie-Quaye Samuel, and Kasim Razak have been impressive pushing the club to its second premier league trophy.

The Ogya boys are coming into this fixture on the back of a vital win against regional rivals Berekum Chelsea at the Nana Agyemang Badu park II, they lie 8th on the log with 33 points something they will be looking to increase tomorrow.

Aduana Stars have been victorious on 6 separate occasions out of 8 duels that they have engaged the home side in the league.

Predictions: Great Olympics 2-1 Aduana Stars

GPL Match Preview and Prediction: Great Olympics vs Asante Kotoko

The Accra Sports Stadium will see two of the finest clubs Great Olympics and Kumasi Asante Kotoko go head-to-head in what have been hugely publicized as the match of the weekend in round 20 of the ongoing Ghana Premier League.

The home side is coming into this match with mixed feelings, losing to Legon Cities in what many thought would have been an easy coup for them but they succumbed to the struggling side last week.

If there’s any respite for the Dade boys, it’s geared towards the fact that they beat them (Kotoko) in Accra during the first round as well as the motivation to move back to the summit of the table after ceding it to the Kumasi “Galacticos” last week.

Kotoko have impressed under ex-Black Stars manager, Mariano Barreto since his appointment, they are yet to lose a match in three games that he has supervised and this duel will be a test of his managerial credentials.

The absence of Kwame Opoku (USM Algiers) will be a huge loss for the Red faithful but their new prodigy, Francis Kumi, who has scored two in two will inure to the good of the Reds.

This weekend’s clash will be a match for the neutrals and an extra incentive for anyone that picks up all the maximum points on the day.

Prediction: Great Olympics 2-1 Kotoko

GPL Match Preview and Prediction: Legon Cities vs Great Olympics

Legon Cities welcome the table toppers of the league Great Olympics in what has been classified by many as the Accra derby.

Both clubs at present are on opposite ends of the league log, the Royals after the charade of signings in pre-season and mid-season are still yet to hit the ground running not even the funfair signing of injury-plagued Asamoah Gyan has helped matters.

The Accra-based side occupies the 15th position on the log with 19 points something Bashir Hayford may have to remedy in the coming weeks or face the boot if results continue to take a nosedive.

For Accra Great Olympics, they have wowed their fans and mesmerized football lovers with their present achievements, a season past, they were battling relegation, fast-forward to this season, their stats are just amazing to say the least.

Coach Annor Walker has impressively assembled a setup that has played wholeheartedly to his instructions on the field, it’s no doubt they have amassed 33 points with 13 points coming away from home.

The leadership of Gladson Awako has been evident for all to see, the input of the young Maxwell Quaye, Ashie-Quaye, Kasim Razak and others cannot be underestimated.

Legon Cities may have lost ground in the last two games but the likes of Hans Kwoffie (9) and the arrival of former Ghana Premier League goal king, Victorien Adebayor might just be what they need for a revival.

Legon Cities 2-1 Great Olympics

Fans can’t force me to win the league – Great Olympics coach

Accra Great Olympics Coach Annor Walker has strongly diffused widespread suggestions that he is under pressure to win the league this season for the Dade boys.

According to the experienced trainer, who was speaking to the press after his side run victories over title hopefuls, Medeama SC, remarked that he is not under pressure to win the league.

” I am not under pressure to win the league, the fans are not paying me, so why would they give me pressure? What they want is a cup, what I can do as a coach is what I’m doing so they can’t force me to win the league”.

He, however, assured the teeming fans who have long dreamt of a domestic trophy to complement their efforts and to be continually hopeful that “it shall be well”.

Accra Great Olympics dealt a serious blow to the title ambitions of Tarkwa based side Medeama SC in the first of many duels of the second round of games at the Accra Sports Stadium through a Samuel Addo first-half goal.

Accra Great Olympics will stay momentarily on the top of the league awaiting other match fixtures scheduled to take place over the weekend.

The Ghana Premier League 2020-21 season week fourteen saw wins for some clubs whiles others gnashed their teeth hard failing to bag three points at the end of match proceedings.

This weekend, witnessed six games played across the various match centres bar fans following a new directive from the GFA ExCO, as part of measures to curb the rise of COVID-19 cases in the country.

There were wins for three home sides (Berekum Chelsea, Dreams, Medeama SC) an away win for Karela United as well as further draws for WAFA and Liberty Professionals.

The Berekum City Golden Park saw the home side, Berekum Chelsea returned to winning ways against foes Techiman Eleven Wonders, where they pipped them by 2-0 through a Steven Amankona penalty all coming in the first half of the game aiding then to 13th on the log.

Dreams FC blew Dorma-based Aduana Stars apart when they recorded an infamous 4-2 victory over the former two-time Ghana Premier League winners at the Theatre of Dreams. Joseph Esso, who was recently included in C. K Akunnor’s 32-man list started the onslaught before an Agyenim Boateng brace and Emmanuel Ocran goals came afterward, Bright Adjei goals soften matters for the away side.

Liberty and Inter Allies shared the spoils in a four goals thriller whiles, WAFA failed to notch a win over Ashgold at the Sogakope Red Bull Arena after two successive defeats to Dreams and Aduana Stars a week past.
