]]> Black Satellites drawn against Nigeria & Cote D’Ivoire in WAFU ‘B’ Qualifying Tournament

The National U20 Male team, Black Satellites have been drawn alongside Nigeria and Cote D’Ivoire in Group B of the WAFU Qualifying tournament to be staged in Togo.




This was confirmed after a virtual draw which was held in Abidjan on Tuesday, October 20.

Host Nation Togo and Nigeria, who placed 3rd in the last U20 AFCON were drawn bye in Group A and Group B respectively.

In Group A, Togo have been drawn alongside Niger, Benin, and Burkina Faso.

The tournament is scheduled to be staged between November 14 -29, 2020.

]]> Black Starlets in Group B of WAFU U-17 Qualifying tournament alongside Nigeria, Côte D’Ivoire

Ghana will face winners of the last WAFU U17 Qualifying tournament Nigeria and Cote D’Ivoire in the Group stage of this year’s competition.




At a virtual Draw held in Abidjan on Tuesday morning, the Black Starlets were placed in Group B alongside their familiar foes.

Nigeria, who went on after winning the zonal competition to place fourth at the 2019  U-17 AFCON, were drawn bye for Tuesday’s live draw.

Tournament hosts Benin who were also drawn bye will face Niger, Burkina Faso, and Togo.

The tournament which was earlier scheduled for November will now be staged between  December 5-20, 2020.

WATCH: AFCON 2019: Morocco 1-0 Cote d’Ivoire | Highlights

Herve Renard’s dream of winning the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with three different teams remained on course on Friday after seeing his side beat former employers Côte d’Ivoire 1-0 in their second Group D clash at the Al Salaam Stadium in Cairo to progress to the round of 16.


Renard won the title with Zambia in 2012 and Côte d’Ivoire in 2015.


The victory sees Morocco move top of the group with six points while the Ivorians drop to second with three and will have all to play for in the final game of the group against Namibia on Monday.

South Africa were defeated by Cote d’Ivoire in their opening fixture, Kodjia’s strike was the only difference as his team start the campaign with a win.




Cote d’Ivoire dominated the game in the first half with a series of attacking play and counter-attacks.

 



 



Nicolas Pepe saw his free-kick hit the crossbar before going over in the closing minutes of the first half before Kodjia squandered a perfect opportunity to give his side the lead, the first half ended without a goal.

Kodjia finally opened the scoring in the 64th minute with a great finish to put his team in front.

South Africa tried to respond but couldn’t beat the Ivorian defence.
