OFFICIAL: Hearts of Oak announce Samuel Boadu as new Head Coach

Ghana Premier League giants, Accra Hearts of Oak have swiftly moved to appoint highly talented Samuel Boadu as the club’s new head coach.

The young dynamic coach takes over from the departed Serbian coach Kosta Papic on a three-year deal, who resigned from the club citing external influences and pressure from the top hierarchy of the club.

He is expected to propel the Rainbow club back to its glory days on the domestic and continental front with the main focus centered on winning the Ghana Premier League 2020-21 or the MTN FA Cup.

https://twitter.com/heartsofoakgh/status/1366676062218948611?s=21

Boadu shockingly resigned last week from his post at Medeama after leading the club to second on the table with back-to victories over Elmina Sharks and Eleven Wonders aiding the club to second on the pile.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Board Chairman and Patron of Accra Hearts of Oak, Togbe Afede XIV, said the club has made the right decision in appointing the young gaffer.

“Our commitment is to work with him for several many years, so we can achieve success together.” he ended.

An ecstatic Samuel Boadu, who couldn’t contain his excitement on landing a rare opportunity to coach one of the two biggest clubs in the Ghana football landscape.

“I had been looking for this opportunity for quite a long time, this is the time for me to be part of the Phobia family. I am proud to call myself the Head Coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, I will do my very best and work very hard for Accra Hearts of Oak” he remarked.

Hearts of Oak will take on WAFA in the ultimate round of matches for the first half of the ongoing league season.

My target is to win the League – Hearts of Oak coach Kosta Papic

The Ghana Premier League 2020-21 season is entering into its match week fourteen this weekend, whiles some clubs have beaten off stiff competition to be better placed on the log, others are still pitching pieces together to get their campaigns realigned to their season objectives.

One club, that is still in anxious wait for a league triumph is the capital-based club, Accra Hearts of Oak after a decade of absence.

Their inconsistent season has seen many queries, what the problems may be at the club but the last man to steer the club to victory and the current head coach, Kosta Papic is highly optimistic about the chances of the club to win the Ghana Premier League, which has long eluded them.

“My target still remains the same; to win the league,”

“If we find the winning formula and we come back, we are going to catch those who are ahead of us,” he continued.

“The point difference is not big. The gap is not strong, which means we still have a chance.

“If we do properly the job that is ahead of us we’re going to catch everybody and be in a position to fight for what you said (the title),” he told Nhyira FM.

The Phobians drew their home game to Legon Cities stretching their winless streak to four games, their next game sees them go head-to-head with Cape Coast based Ebusua Dwarfs on February 19, 2021.

Bechem United coach feels humiliated after heavy defeat in Accra

League leaders Bechem United suffered one of the heaviest defeats in the history of the Ghana Premier League on Saturday after they fell to Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium in a 6-1 massive defeat.

Bechem United’s problems began just before halftime when Asante was sent off for dissent.

Hearts of Oak came back in the second half a changed side and piled the misery on Kwaku Danso’s side.

After the game, Bechem Cack Kwaku Danso called the game humiliating and blamed his players for not following his plans.

“It is very unfortunate and very humiliating, I wasn’t expecting that scoreline but it is a game of football,” Kwaku Danso said after the game.

“Today I could say that my players were not tactically disciplined; you will give them instructions but they will hesitate. Tactically they were not good and that led to the humiliation.”

Kwaku Danso also revealed that he was surprised by the referee’s decision to give his player Asante a red card in the first half of the game.

“It was very unfortunate because the way I saw it, it wasn’t a red card situation; he was there but he was instructed by the captain to leave the ball for him to throw and you give him a red card. I was surprised” he said

“We were on top of our game but the first loss of the season is 6-1, it is very painful but we are going to work on that and we will make amends in our next game” he added

Bechem United are still top of the Ghana Premier League with 14 points, 3 points above Hearts of Oak who sit in second on the log.
