Justice Blay’s father ready to negotiate player’s transfer to Kotoko

The Medeama-Kotoko tussle over Justice Blay has become so intense to the point the player’s father is ready to intervene and negotiate the player’s transfer to Asante Kotoko.

The father of Justice Blay, John Blay insists that the player is desperate to join Asante Kotoko permanently after his loan spell with the club, he adds that Justice Blay isn’t interested in playing for Medeama anymore.

Medeama’s PRO Patrick Akoto revealed that the club will be writing to the Ghana FA to report Asante Kotoko’s attempt to unsettle their player ahead of the new Ghana Premier League season.

John Blay has however stated that he is ready to negotiate his son’s move to Asante Kotoko.

” I am ready to help Kotoko to negotiate with Medeama to secure the services of my son,” John Blay told OTEC FM

“I’ve supported all the teams my son has played, from Eleven Wise, Medeama, and Kotoko. So now if my son has decided to play for Kotoko, I can’t prevent him from moving to his dream team. I am hoping that Kotoko will have fruitful negotiations with Medeama’s President, Moses Parker.

“My son’s heart is definitely with Kotoko. Since he moves to Kotoko, he has become very popular especially after scoring that goal against Hearts of Oak in Accra.

“Blay is my son and not Moses Parker’s son so I am ready to help Kotoko to negotiate with Medeama to secure his service. I’m ready to meet Kotoko in Tarkwa to negotiate on my son’s behalf.”

Asante Kotoko negotiations with Medeama broke down a few weeks ago after the Kumasi-based club refused to match the $50,000 price tag.

Ghana Premier League side Medeama SC in the interim have placed contracts talks on hold with fellow premier league side Kumasi Asante Kotoko regarding their prized asset, Justice Blay.

The Kumasi side have in recent times expressed keen interest in tieing the flamboyant midfielder Blay, who is on a season-long loan to a permanent deal but has so far proved futile.

The two-time FA Cup holders want to wait for a ” final decision from the Ghana FA” before moving to the negotiating table with other clubs with Blay’s contract issue inclusive.

The club announced via a tweet on Twitter their firm decision to hold all talks on new signings, out-of-contracts, and loaned players as they await the FA decisions on the league’s possible continuation or annulment.

Whiles Medeama’s Communication Director Patrick Akoto confirmed the club’s position in relation to contract talks to the club’s official website.

“The club has taken a decision to put all contracts talks on hold. We want to be sure about the certainty of the league before we resume any form of talks,”

“The decision includes new signings, renewals and loaned players.

“We are in constant touch with the Ghana FA and as and when a decision is made by the federation, we will know the way forward.”

Blay has caught the eye of many admirers since his move from Medeama to Kumasi Asante Kotoko with many stupendous performances until the league was suspended through a presidential directive amid the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus.

Ghana Premier giants Asante Kotoko have opened contract talks with Medeama over the permanent stay of their midfielder Justice Blay.

The Kumasi based club officially corresponded with Medeama SC in writing as they look to turn the midfielders loan move into a permanent one.

The young lad joined Kotoko from Medeama at the start of this season’s league and has hugely caught the eye of the Red Devils hierarchy with lots of match-winning performances.

His display in most matches for Kotoko this season have not gone unnoticed as he has endeared to many Kotoko fans and even opposing ones.

His technical abilities; vision for pass, defensive tidiness, and eye for goals come handy to any setup he plays in.

Lots of clubs are chasing the signature of the highly-rated midfielder,it remains to be seen if Coach Samuel Boadu’s side will cash in on one of their valuable assets to an opposing club in Kotoko or sell up to a foreign club.

The transfer window is in session as the Ghana Premier League is currently on hold until further directive from football’s top management.

Justice Blay: Meet the Ghana Premier League star who is turning heads at Kotoko

Arriving at a big club with a hefty price tag instantly puts a player under the microscope. Every pass is analysed, every shot discussed and every action dissected. It was going to be no different for Justice Blay.

The midfielder made the switch to Kumasi Asante Kotoko from Medeama SC. Without a moment’s hesitation, the combative Blay has been Asante Kotoko’s best signing so far. With the other reinforcements signed by Kjetil Zachariassen not in the squad for the second leg match against Kano Pillars on Sunday, all eyes were on the former Medeama man and he didn’t disappoint!

He was head and shoulders above every other player on the Baba Yara Sports Stadium pitch as Kjetil Zachariassen’s men bested the Nigerian outfit to advance to the final round of the CAF Champions League preliminary stage.

He’s been enormous since his arrival with his fighting spirit, energy and ferocity in midfield embodying his manager’s philosophy brilliantly. As ever, the combative midfielder was always seen setting the tone beautifully for his side, flying into tackles, pressing relentlessly and tracking back doggedly, as his physicality unsettled the opponents.

Contrary to popular belief and perception, he is actually a very intelligent footballer, which he demonstrated emphatically with his astute positioning and covering of his teammates. Moreover, in Kotoko’s attacks, Blay used his superb vision and concentration to pick up darting movements of Richard Arthur, Naby Keita, Emmanuel Gyamfi and Matthew Kelvin Andoh whenever they ventured into his designated area of operation. He never allowed his opponents an easy passage to meander into the space surrounding him, and wreak havoc.

However, when they did obtained possession in close proximity to him, he pounces like a hungry lion to bring the pressure. Kotoko’s lateral defenders must also be thankful to Blay, for he regularly shuttled over to cover for them when they motor forward ensuring they wouldn’t be caught off-guard. He efficiently mixed his unquenchable appetite to work for his teammates with his ability to find space around the opponent’s attackers.

Using his spatial awareness, he craftily buzzes laterally on the pitch, always looking to present his centre-halves with an option in their attempts to pass out from the back. He is not interested in scoring goals, but the player who will pass to the scorer. His job is to anticipate, intercept, pass, and anticipate.

Once in possession, ‘The Blade’ as he is affectionately known among the fans of the club used his under-appreciated passing ability to kick-start many of his team’s attacking forays, and assist in keeping hold of the ball.

He is rarely flustered under pressure. He has a languid unhurried style and is always willing and able to wait for extra seconds to find the right pass. He may not be the Porcupine Warriors’ most glamorous player, but his dedication and willingness to fight for his side have meant he has become an invaluable asset of Kjetil Zachariassen’s new look Kotoko side.

In an attack focused modern game, elite defensive midfielders are becoming increasingly hard to find. Kotoko should be thankful they have one of the good ones and arguably one of the best domestically.

If Justice Blay can seamlessly and consistently churn out such exhilarating displays then Kotoko might have a better player than originally thought.
