Ghana striker Caleb Ekuban has received a contract extension offer from Turkish side Trabzonspor.

There is no detail concerning the deal and the striker’s stance but reports say the 26-year-old has been handed fresh terms.

The former Leeds United has been handed an improved offer following his exhilarating spell at the club since joining.

Trabzonspor management have decided to sit on the table with the deadly striker over the terms of the new deal.

Coach Abdullah Avci says its important for the club to create a transfer pool and create next season’s staff structure.

“Let’s create a transfer pool and create the next season’s staff structure,” and will present a preliminary list at the meeting he plans to hold with the managers next week.”

The 26-year-old has been the go-to guy for Trabzonspor this season scoring six goals in 15 appearances in the ongoing season.

Ekuban scored late in the game to help Trabzonpspor win their first Turkish Super Cup in a decade against Istanbul Basaksehir last week.

Management of the team have been impressed with the performance of the Black Stars forward and have offered him a three-year contract.

His new contract will see his wages increased from 750,000 euros to 1 million Euros.

Trabzonspor are hoping to tie the Ghana International down with the new contract in order to wade off interests from other interested clubs.

Ghana Black Stars striker Caleb Ekuban has been called up to replace John Antwi while Joseph Paintsil has will be joining the squad as a replacement for Lumor Agbenyenu.

Full statement from the Ghana FA:

Goalkeeper Richard Ofori will miss Ghana’s friendly games against Mali and Qatar. The South Africa-based shot-stopper who has been Ghana’s safest pair of hands since 2016, is been ruled out of the games because his work permit has expired and would require at least, two weeks for it to be renewed. Coach C.K Akonnor now has two goalkeepers, Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Razak Abalora, available for selection.

John Antwi

The Pyramid’s FC top marksman is one of the players who wouldn’t make it to Turkey following difficulties to secure a visa to travel to Antalya. John’s work permit has also expired and would need not less than two weeks to secure a new one.

Lumor Agbebyenu

The Sporting Lisbon left-back who played on loan at Real Mallorca last season could also not apply for a visa due to work permit complications.

Kudus Mohammed

The Ajax Amsterdam midfielder is a doubt for the games, but the GFA is insisting that he travels to Turkey on Tuesday for assessment. The former Right to Dream Academy man was left out of the Ajax squad for Sunday’s Dutch League game against FC Groningen after sustaining an injury in training on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Head Coach C.K Akonnor has handed late call ups to Turkey-based duo, Caleb Ekuban (Trabzonspor), and Joseph Paintsil (Ankaragucu). Ekuban has been drafted in to replace John Antwi, while, Paintsil replaces Lumor Agbenyenu.
