Black Stars B to face Uzbekistan in International friendly

The Ghana Football Association is delighted to announce an International friendly between Ghana and Uzbekistan on Thursday, March 25, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.



The GFA has therefore decided to honour the match with a chunk of the home-based players who have been preparing in Accra for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as the Association intends to utilize fully, the opportunity in the March FIFA window with this useful exercise.

The team will also use the match as a dress rehearsal for the 2021 WAFU Cup of Nations in Nigeria and the upcoming CHAN qualifiers.

As a result, Coach of the home-based Black Stars, Ibrahim Tanko has named a 20-man squad for the friendly. With a number of these players currently training with the Black Stars in Accra, he has decided to make a few additions for the game.

Samuel Ashie Quaye, Percious Boah and Afriyie Barnieh of the victorious Black Satellites team have been drafted in.

Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Richard Atta has also been called up.

The team will depart Accra on Monday, March 22, play the game on Thursday, March 24 and return on Friday, March 26, 2021.

Ghana Black Stars B suffered a narrow defeat against Burkina Faso on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium in the first leg of the African Nation Championship.




Burkina Faso scored in injury time through Yannick Pognongo’s long-range effort.

Maxwell Konadu and his boys will travel to Burkina Faso for the second leg and will look to turn around Sunday’s disappointment.

Coach Maxwell Konadu drops 16 players from Black Stars ‘B’ squad for Burkina Faso clash

Head coach of the Black Stars B has dropped sixteen players from his team ahead of their 2020 CHAN qualifier against Burkina Faso on Friday.



The list includes three players from Hearts of Oak namely Manaf Umar, Benjamin Agyare and Benjamin Afutu with Abdul Rahman of Aduana Stars.
Shockingly, 2017 WAFU gold medalist Joseph Addo has also been sent home ahead of the all-important match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The team commenced preparations in Kumasi last month for the all-important qualifier against Burkina Faso.
Coach Konadu’s side are also expected to represent the country in the upcoming WAFU tournament to be staged in Senegal.

Black Stars B coach Maxwell Konadu has expressed his eagerness to have local football back up and running in the country.

Ghana football has been in a limbo for several months now after Anas’ expose on the corruption and rot in the system was aired.

Anas Finally Reveals Why He Conducted “Number 12” Expose

Since then teams have not played any local competitive football for months now. The coach was speaking after the Black Stars B side were beaten by Namibia 4-1 on penalties in a game over the weekend.

He expressed concern about the lack of football by the players and said it would derail their progress as footballers in general.
