Breaking: Sogne Yacouba to leave Asante Kotoko

Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko will lose striker Songne Yacouba in the comings weeks after the club revealed that they can’t meet his $150,000 demands from the Burkinabe to renew his expiring contract, the club’s Executive Chairman has revealed.

Dr Kwame Kyei says his outfit are not capable of meeting Songne Yacouba’s contract renewal demands because it is way above what they can afford.

Yacouba is demanding a yearly salary of $150,000 before signing a new deal with the Porcupine Warriors.

But the Ghanaian giants offered the Burkinabe a paltry GHc 50,000-a-year contract which was rejected by his representatives.

According to the club’s chief Dr. Kyei, they have no means to pay an outrageous amount of cash to the Burkinabe forward.

He added that the player will depart the club when his contract expires in February.

“AsanteKotoko_SC can’t pay Songne Yacouba the $150,000 he is demanding from Club to renew his contract.”

“Yacouba will leave the club after his contract expires. Dr. Kwame Kyei tells Kotoko supporters after the game.”

Yacouba’s contract will run out on 23 February 2020.

Exclusive: Sogne Yacouba rejects Asante Kotoko latest offer

Asante Kotoko are yet to reach an agreement with their Burkinabe striker Sogne Yacouba after the talented forward rejected their latest contract offer.

According to our sources, management of the club was in talks with the player’s agent on Tuesday to discuss a possible contract extension but the player and his agent rejected Kotoko’s latest offer.

Asante Kotoko will have to increase their offer if they want the player to stay at the club as both the player and his agent are ready to leave the club when his contract expires February next year.

The Porcupines are also trying to reach an agreement with the club’s captain Felix Annan before the beginning of the Premier League season.

Felix Annan wants $1,200 per month in his new contract and Asante Kotoko are likely to meet his demands as he is one of the best players in the country.

Everybody talks well about Yacouba – Kotoko coach Zachariassen

Asante Kotoko coach has stated that everyone is pleased with Sogne Yacouba’s return to the squad, he also revealed that his team are ready for the CAF Champions League preliminary round second leg against Kano Pillars on Sunday in Kumasi.

The coach also stated that it is not the sole responsibility of a single player to score goals as he has given other players the freedom to express themselves.

“We are scoring, we are scoring in training; we are scoring in matches and we have six people in front of the back four who all can score so we don’t depend only on our strikers,” he said

Coach Zachariassen added that Sogne Yacouba is currently recovering from injury and will receive updates from the medical team on his progress.

“Everybody talks well about him. So we hope he can get fit because he has some injury problem. He is just running at the moment. We will check him. Let’s see how things work out for him”

Asante Kotoko will welcome Kano Pillars this Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium as they look to bounce back from their 3-2 away defeat in Nigeria.

Sogne Yacouba’s agent denies that player wants contract with Kotoko terminated

Agent of Asante Kotoko striker Sogne Yacouba stated a few days ago that the player is unhappy at Kotoko and wanted his contract with the club terminated, but he ‘cleared’ the air by stating that his comments were misunderstood.

The agent, Mr. Gyasi Jantuah reportedly told a radio presenter that Sogne Yacouba was unhappy at the club and wants his contract terminated.

“It is true that Al Hilal presented an offer to Kotoko for Songne Yacouba but he is not ready and wants to terminate his contract with Kotoko,” Mr. Jantuah told Otec FM.

“The issues between the player and the management are becoming too much so the decision is the player is ready to prove himself and terminate his contract with the team. We will know the way forward after terminating his contract with Kotoko.”

On Tuesday, Mr. Gyasi Jantuah stated that his comments were taken out of context and clarified them.

“If you listened to it carefully, I meant to say he wants to finish his contract with Kotoko, that was where I used the word “terminate” his contract with Kotoko”, Jantuah told Focal Sports on Tuesday.

“We were having a conversation, normal conversation talking about Yacouba then I said, the lad loves Kotoko, every time that’s how we create stories against him but he wants to finish his contract with Kotoko, I even continued to say he might have a change of mind and renew his contract with Kotoko and that would excite me”, he clarified.
