Ghana Premier League side Ashantigold failed to make it to the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup after losing 4-3 on aggregate to Moroccan side RS Berkane on Saturday night.

Ashantigold couldn’t take advantage of their 3-2 first-leg win as they lost 2-0 away from home.

Musah Mohammed’s 8th-minute red card made it difficult for the Miners as they were forced to play with only ten men for the rest of the game.

Issoufou Dayo opened the scoring for RS Berkane with a close-range overhead kick to put his team in front.

Zaid Krouch scored the second goal with a great strike from outside the box.

Ashantigold midfielder Amos Addai has assured their fans that the team will do all they can to qualify to the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup when they meet RS Berkane in Morocco.

Ashgold secured a narrow 3-2 win at Obuasi in the first leg and will travel to Morocco for the second leg.

“I am very confident that we will win this game and progress to the next stage of the competition because we believe in ourselves that we have what it takes to shock our opponents at their own backyard,” he told dailymailgh

The Miners will host division one side Asokwa Deportivo on Saturday, 21st September 2019 (9:30 AM) at the Ofori Stadium.

Coach Ricardo Da Rocha will utilize the opportunity to prepare and finalize his team ahead of a trip to Morroco.

Match officials for AshantiGold’s CAF Confederation Cup first round first leg encounter with RS Berkane of Morocco have arrived in Ghana.

The Senegalese referees touched down at the Kotoka international airport in Accra at around 4:30pm on Thursday.

They are expected in Obuasi on Friday morning.

Center referee for the crunchy fixture on Saturday at the Len Clay stadium is Issa Sy and will be assisted by El Hadji Malick Samba and Nouha Bangoura.

The fourth official will be Adalbert  Diouf.

Ashantigold striker Shafiu Mumuni believes and is confident he will find the back of the net when his team faces RS Berkane on Saturday at Obuasi.

The in-form striker scored a hat trick in their last CAF Champions League game against Akonangui FC and is looking to replicate this feat.

Ashantigold will host RS Berkane at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi on Saturday.

“God willing I will score on Saturday. It is my job to put the ball at the back of the net for the team to win. Definitely it is going to happen.” he told GHANAsoccernet.com

Meanwhile, Mumuni expects a very tough match on Saturday but with the high sprite, determination and concentration in camp victory is a must for AshantiGold.

“We know definitely the game will be tough for us but we are determined, we are fully concentrated. Things are going on well with regards to preparations and there is enough motivation spurring us on.”

“We are ready for the game and hopefully we will give the supporters something to smile after the game.”
