GPL Match Preview and Prediction: Ashantigold vs Aduana Stars

AshantiGold SC are at home to two-time Ghana Premier League Champions Aduana Stars at the Obuasi Ley Clay in matchday 15 clash of the ongoing league in what promises to be a clash of the heavyweights.

Both teams will be looking to record wins for themselves to boost their position on the league log, as they were unable to notch wins in their prior away games, the home side drew blank at the Sogakope Red Bull Arena whiles Aduana Stars were butchered into pieces by Dreams F.C at the Theatre of Dreams, Dawu.

The Miners have picked eight points from a possible 15 at home in five games but their inability to pick a win in their last six duels will be a worrying trend for Thomas Duah who steps into the shoes of the frail Milovan Cirkovic needing remedy to lift them from their current 10th position on the log.

Aduana Stars recently lost their head coach, Paa Kwesi Fabian following their inability to resolve a contract impasse, as well as his demands for the team to be properly augmented to fight for places in the league.

Yaw Annor has netted five goals but will miss the partnership he has formed with Appiah McCarthy (3), who is currently nursing an injury, and Hans Kwofie (5), who has since departed to join riche nouveau Legon Cities in Accra.

The Fire Boys have picked six points on the road this season an away fixture to Obuasi will certainly be a difficult one on the cards for them in the face of their current problems.

Both sides have played ten games, the home side have won four, the away side with three, and the others ending in a stalemate.

Prediction: Ashantigold 2-1 Aduana Stars

Ebenezer Agyapong appeals to GFA to lift Techiman City ban

Ghana Premier League club Techiman City’s captain, Ebenezer Agyapong has appealed to the President of the Ghana Football Association and his top executives to temper justice with mercy as players are on the downside as a result of the ban on the club.

According to him, the playing body are the ones who are feeling the full effects of ban and not the board or the management body of the team.

In an interview with Accra based radio station Angel Sports, he was passionate about his appeal to football association.

“All we are saying is that the players are at the worse end of the ban placed on Techiman City”

“Football is our source of livelihood, through this ban, it has become very difficult for us(playing body) to survive compared to the club executives”

“I appeal to President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku to prioritize the welfare of the playing body as his ambitions are geared towards bringing back the love to Ghana Football”

Ghana Premier League club, Techiman City lost its right to become member of the Football Association after it issued a Writ, filing an Ex-parte against it on Friday, August 28, 2020, to place an interlocutory injunction on the 26th Ordinary Congress of the Ghana Football Association.

This incurred the wrath of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to exercise its powers under Article 39(n) of the GFA Statutes 2019 to suspended Techiman City Football Club for violating the Statutes of the Association.

As at yesterday, 22nd October, 2020, sixteen (16) Ghana Premier League, Division One, Women’s League clubs had signed a petion on behalf of Techiman City to sway GFA’s decision to remove the ban on the club heading into the upcoming season.
