Kotoko will renew their rivalry with Ivorian giants, Asec Mimosas, on Sunday, May 26, 2019, as the two old foes clash in the Asantehene 20th Anniversary commemoration match.

The game, which will take place at Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi, is in honor of the Asantehene and Kotoko’s owner and Life Patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on the commemoration of the 20th-year on the throne of the Asante Kingdom.



Director of Communications, Samuel Sarfo Duku (Esq) tells Kotoko Media the clash has been put together by Primeval Media.

“We mandated Primeval to organize the game and they have secured Asec Mimosas, who have also agreed to honor the clash on the said date,” confirms Sarfo Duku (Esq).

Ashantigold announced on Thursday morning that the club have completed the signing of young Ivorian defender Ibrahim Kalil Doumbia on a five-year deal.

Ibrahim will join his compatriots Richard Djodi and Salia Ouattara at the club.

The Ivorian signed a two-year contract with Asante Kotoko in December 2017 but has since failed to secure a starting place in the team.

The left-footed player spent most of his time in the club out of matchday squads having made the bench and also featured in games on few occasions.

Sylla Mohammed was not registered for the 2018/19 CAF Confederation Cup and leaves the club with just about a few months left on his contract.

The decision to mutually part ways was taken at the club’s secretariat in Kumasi on Tuesday after deliberations between the club and the player.
