Kotoko bagged a financial rewarded of GH¢180,000 and the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup after they won against Golden Kick on Sunday at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium. 



Kwame Opoku’s brace in either halve of the game sandwiched between a spectacular Bless Ege freekick secured the win for the Kumasi based club.

Speaking on Sporty FM, FA Cup Committee Chairman Wilson Arthur announced that Kotoko will receive GH¢80,000 in prize money, along with an additional GH¢100,000 from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to support their campaign in the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup.

Ghana Premier League club Kotoko’s supremacy aided them to victory over Division One side Golden Kick FC on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

 



Kwame Poku’s brace did the magic for the Porcupine Warriors as Blessing Ege’s consolation marked a consolation for Fiifi Hanson Parker’s side.

The Porcupine Warriors started the match with intense energy and were rewarded as Kwame Opoku rose highest to an Albert Amoah corner kick in the 16th minute.
Bless Ege’s brilliant free-kick leveled things up for his side in the 33rd minute to end the first half, 1-1.
With minutes to end the second half the game tied at 1-1. Kotoko was controversially awarded a penalty.
Kwame Opoku elected himself for the penalty kick as he confidently scored what turned out to be the winner of the game.
The win signals Kotoko’s first triumph in the FA Cup in eight years and qualification to the CAF Confederation Cup for the 2025/26 season.

Asante Kotoko SC will go head-to-head with Golden Kick SC in a fiery duel slated for Sunday, June 15, 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium.

 



Kotoko’s journey to this stage came as a result of beating Berekum Chelsea in the semi-finals.

Asante Kotoko secured their passage to the finals of the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup following a slender win over Berekum Chelsea. 



Albert Amoah’s late goal proved decisive for the Porcupine Warriors who have endured a rocky spell in the last few weeks.

Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea  slide through to the semi-finals came into the semifinal with wins over True Democracy and Bechem United respectively.

The first half raced to an end with no goals separating the two teams after several chances were spurred within that interval.

The second half was more tenser with how they approached the game tactically which gave the fans a lot of nervy moments on when the goal will be scored.

Eight minutes to end proceedings, Albert Amoah leaped high to head home Baba Yahaya’s cross to give Kotoko the lead.

Coach Boadu and his charges rallied for a late equalizer but the defensive resoluteness of the Porcupine defense was on hand to nullify all their incessant attacks.

Kotoko will square off with Division  One side Golden Kick FC.

Golden Kick SC booked their spot in the final with a commanding 3-1 win over Attram De Visser.

 



The Accra-based Division One side breezed their way through the final after going ahead after Attram De Visser’s goalkeeper, Dawuud Ishaque, accidentally turned the ball into his net in the 16th minute of the game.

Sven minutes later, David Amuzu doubled the lead for his side after he was put through on goal by his teammate, DaCosta.

Three minutes after recess, substitute Bless Ege added the icing on the cake for the Division One side.
There was a late consolation for Godwin Attram’s side through Precious Yaw Gyimah, but it failed to spark a revival for them.

Golden Kick was one of three Division One clubs to reach the FA Cup final after FC Nania in 2011 and Okwahu United (2016).
They await the winner of the tie between Asante Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea, who play on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at the TnA Stadium at 15:00 GMT.

All looks set for the semi-finals of the MTN FA Cup as the men have liberated themselves of the boys in the quarter final round of games at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

 



The Porcupine Warriors dug deep into stoppage time to bask themselves in glory by beating True Democracy by 2-1 with goals from Saaka Dauda and Kwame Poku with a consolation from True Democracy’s Isaac Botchway.

In yet another thrilling contest, the tale of the two Ghana Premier League clubs, it was Stephen Amankona’s only goal that proved the match winner for Berekum Chelsea over Bechem United.

Attram De Visser continued their fairytale run as they ousted PAC Academy 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the entire duration.

Kwame Poku’s last gasp goal was enough to break hearts of True Democracy in the last of a hard-fought quarter final pairings at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

 



The Porcupine Warriors came into the game on the back of beating Sekondi Eleven Wonders in the round of 16 while True Democracy edged former MTNM FA Cup winners, FC Nania.

The Reds got their noses in front as inform winger, Saaka Dauda reacted quickly to Asiedu’s quick throw-in and fired hard and low into the bottom left corner.

The Porcupine Warriors got the advantage of doubling their lead through a penalty in the 41st minute as Kwame Opoku is brought down in the box.

Justice Blay steps up and missed the resultant penalty from the spot.

True Democracy recovered strongly in the second half as their efforts was duly rewarded with an equalizer from a freekick from Botchway which deflected off the wall beating Mohammed Camara,1-1

Ghana Premier League club Berekum Chelsea booked a slot to the semi-finals at the expense off Bechem United on Saturday, March 29,2025.

 



Stephen Amankona was  on hand to score the only goal of the game that proved crucial for his side.

Berekum Chelsea coasted to a  4-1 win over Northern City while Bechem United travailed on penalties over Techiman Liberty Youth.

The Porcupine Warriors was unable to honor the fixture due to the loss of their supporter Yaw Frimpong (Nana Pooley).

This saw the Kumasi based club suspend all first team activities for some weeks.

The two teams went into the game eyeing a slot in the quarter finals but it was the Porcupine Warriors who showed enough grit and character to beat their opponents.

Elvis Kyei Baffour was on handed to tap in a cross from left back Patrick Asiedu which happened to be the only goal that separated the two teams.

Kotoko’s win sets up a frantic quarter final duel against True Democracy.
