Ghana Premier League side Asante Kotoko have announced that they will return to full football activities in Ghana Football next month, the club officially announced on Monday.



Asante Kotoko halted football activities a few weeks ago after their fan Nana Pooley was gruesomely murdered during their league game against Nsaotreman.

After arrests and progress in identifying the perpetrator, Kotoko has officially announced that the club will resume football activities following the burial of the victim, Nana Pooley.

“We are convinced the Ghana Police we intensify their investigations and the court will also continue with their trials. Based on the happenings so far, Asante Kotoko shall be ready and willing to return to the pitch after the burial and final funeral rights of Nana Pooley” the club communications director Sarfo Duku said.

The late Nana Pooley will buried on the 6th of March, 2025.

The Ghana Football Association have officially suspended the Ghana Premier League with immediate effect, they announced the postponement of all Matchday 20 league fixtures.



The decision was taken following yesterday’s violence which resulted to the death of a fan during a league game between Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC.

Full Statement:

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has decided to postpone the next round of league matches (Matchday 20) following the violent incidents and fatality that occurred at the match played between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko over the weekend.



This move is aimed at creating space for the GFA to engage with relevant stakeholders and discuss the ramifications of the violence.

The postponement will allow the GFA to assess the situation, consult with stakeholders, and develop strategies to prevent such incidents in the future.

The GFA has been working to improve the overall football experience in Ghana and is keen to ensure that this incident is dealt with swiftly and decisively to send the signal that such acts have no place in Ghana Football.


The Ghana FA announced a meeting scheduled for all Ghana Premier League clubs on Thursday.

Ghana Premier League side Nsoatreman FC have reportedly withdrawn from the Ghana Premier League following yesterday’s events that led to the death of a Kotoko fan.



Several reports indicate that the club feels they are not getting a good return on their investment in Ghana Football, leading to their decision after yesterday’s incident.

Asante Kotoko, on the other hand, is considering boycotting the league until appropriate actions are taken against the perpetrators of yesterday’s violence. The club will consult its Life Patron, Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II, before making a final decision.

Nsoatreman are yet to release a statement but have reportedly sent their decision to the Ghana Football Association.

Hearts of Lions lost the plot to Nations FC in a keenly contested fixture at the Kpando Sports Stadium. 



The host lost surprisingly their previous away duel to Bechem United after going on a  four game winning streak. 

Coach Bashir Hayford spoke about the need for his team to put in a good shift against their weekend opponents,  Nations FC. 

The first half ended goalless with both teams putting each other to the test. 

With 10 minutes to end proceedings, Ivorian forward Boris Djangone scored the match winner after pouncing on a defensive howler by their host defense. 

The loss puts an end to their impressive 19-match home unbeaten run, their second consecutive loss as they lose the top spot to GoldStars. 

The victory pushes Kumasi based club,Nations to second spot with 32 points.

Ghana International Felix Afena-Gyan has completed a move to Italian giants Juventus, on loan from Cremonese, Sahara Football understands.



Afena Gyan, who made his debut for AS Roma in 2021 before joining Cremonese where he struggled to make an impact, will now join Juventus on loan in a bid to revive his career.

The young forward will initially join the Juventus B team and, depending on his performance, may later be promoted to the main squad.

Ghana Black Stars winger Ernest Nuamah will ply his trade in Englas this season after sealing a sensational move to a London-based club on transfer deadline day.



Lyon, having only last month confirmed the permanent signing of the talented winger from Belgian club Molenbeek, has now sold him to English Premier League team Fulham.



Nuamah, who was not selected for the latest Ghana Black Stars squad, is set to travel to London to finalize his transfer to Fulham as soon as the paperwork is completed, reports indicate.
