Match Preview: Medeama vs Bechem United; Bechem to stun Medeam at home?

Tarkwa based Medeama are yet to lose a game at home this season in the ongoing Ghana Premier League season, topsides Hearts and Kotoko have even fallen to their knees in their recent visits to the Akoon Community Park, the home venue of the Mauve and Yellow side. But their recent loss at the hands of former Premier League winners will remain fresh in their minds as they take on Bechem United in a midweek fixture.

This season, Samuel Boadu boys, have so far given it their best shot at the league even though there are equally talented sides but their current position third (3rd) is no fluke, as they have played so well anytime they take to the pitch. One man that needs a pat on the back, Prince Opoku Agyemang, has been in blistering form for the Tarwka outfit scoring five goals in seven games.

Their opponents Bechem United, are the first side to beat “Giant Slayers”, Berekum Chelsea this season, which is an immense achievement by all standards after seven rounds of games in the league. The away side currently occupies the fourth (4th) spot with 13 points the same as Medeama who have a better goal advantage. One plus is their ability to play solidly and move in numbers when attacking which will be a serious headache for any porous side they meet in the league.

These two promising setups in the ongoing Ghana Premier League have played each other in the past seasons, fifteen (15) times, Medeama(5) whiles Bechem United have won six (6) of the duels with two (2) ending in a stalemate.

The pair are major contenders for the league on any day. The home side, Medeama will knick a win but it won’t come on an easy turf against Bechem United who are a very difficult side to play though they are not the best of travelers.

Predictions

Medeama SC 2 – 1

Asante Kotoko’s Public Relations Officer Kennedy Boakye Ansah and the Club’s management member Isaac Donkor have been charged by the GFA on various counts of misconduct.

In separate charges Mr. Boakye Ansah and Mr. Isaac Donkor aka Perusha allegedly invaded the inner perimeter during Kotoko’s match against Berekum Chelsea and forcefully gave instructions to Ampem Dacosta, a player of the Club who was shown a red card, not to obey the Referee’s decision.

The Club’s Officials’ actions brought the game to a temporary halt, which eventually gave Kotoko’s supporters the zeal to agitate contrary to Regulation 34(1)(a) of GFA Premier League Regulations.

Mr. Boakye Ansah and Mr. Donkor’s actions were also deemed to have incited players against other players or match officials because of their decisions or encouraged an unhealthy demonstration in whatever form contrary to Regulation 34(1)(b) of GFA Premier League Regulations.

Both officials of the Club are deemed to have misconducted themselves though their alleged offensive conducts and improper behavior.

Should Mr. Boakye Ansah and Mr. Isaac Donkor accept the charges against them, they will serve a ban of 5 matches each from all football-related activities and liable to fines of GHc5000 each in accordance with Article 34(7) of the GFA Premier League Regulations.

The two Asante Kotoko Officials have within two days to either accept the charge and immediately comply with the sanctions and that will end this matter or otherwise proceed to submit their Statements of Defence.

In case the two officials decide to proceed to the Disciplinary Committee, should the prosecution be successful at the Disciplinary Committee, the Prosecution shall pray the Disciplinary Committee for the imposition of the maximum sanctions as set out by the GFA Statutes, Disciplinary Code and Regulations.

The Prosecution will rely on the evidence in the reports of the Referee, the Match Commissioner, any witness(es) and video of the match.

The two Officials are to submit a written response to the charges by close of work, Friday, January 24, 2020, on or before 5 pm at the GFA Secretariat or through email address to the Disciplinary Committee, dc@ghanafa.org failing which the Disciplinary Committee shall proceed to adjudicate the case without a Statement of Defence.

Should this matter proceed to the Disciplinary Committee, it will hear the case on Friday, January 24, 2020, at 5:05 pm at the GFA Secretariat if the Club is present or not.

GHPL Match Week 4 Results: Aduana and Ashgold drop points, Kotoko lose again

The results of Match Week four of the Ghana Premier League are in; Ashgold and Aduana fail to maintain their perfect start to the season, Asante Kotoko suffers another defeat and more.

Inter Allies 2-3 Elmina Sharks

Inter Allies suffered their third defeat of the season when they hosted Elmina Sharks in a game filled with goals. Benjamin Tweneboah, Bernand Boateng and Raphael Ocloo were on target for the away side while Victorien Adebayor and Samuel Armah scored for the home side.

Berekum Chelsea 1-0 Dreams FC

Berekum Chelsea move to 3rd in the Ghana Premier League after snatching a win against Dreams FC on Wednesday. Fuseini Zakaria’s strike was the difference in Berekum.

King Faisal 2-2 Bechem United

King Faisal registered their first point in the Ghana Premier League after they were held at home by Bechem United on Wednesday. Bechem United came from behind twice to snatch a point. Kwame Prepah and Ibrahim Osman were on target for the home side while Prince Kwabena’s brace helped Bechem secure a point.

Medeama 1-0 Asante Kotoko

Prince Opoku’s early penalty strike handed Asante Kotoko their second defeat in a row in the Ghana Premier League. Medeama stood firm to deny the Porcupines from securing any point in Tarkwa. Imoro Ibrahim’s red card surely made it difficult for Kotoko to get back in the game.

Ebusua Dwarfs 1-2 Liberty Professionals

Ebusua Dwarfs suffer their fourth defeat in a row as they fall again against Liberty Professionals on Wednesday. Seidu Abubakar scored the only goal for Ebusua while Mubarak Alhassan and Rudolf Mensah were on target for the away team.

WAFA 0-0 Hearts of Oak

Hearts of Oak held WAFA to a goalless draw at Sogakope on Wednesday as they continue to find their feet in the Ghana Premier League. WAFA currently sit 5th and Hearts 12th on the Ghana Premier League table.

Eleven Wonders 1-0 Aduana Stars

Godfred Asamoah’s goal handed Eleven Wonders a huge three points against high flying Aduana Stars on Wednesday at Techiman. Mohammed Yahaya led Aduana failed to continue with their fine start to the season as the slip to 3rd in the league table.

Legon Cities 0-0 Ashantigold

Legon Cities were strong enough to stop Ashantigold on Wednesday in the Match Week Four fixture of the Ghana Premier League. Both teams settled for a goalless draw at the Accra Sports Stadium.
