Congress adopts new GFA Statutes, Election regulations

Congress of the Ghana Football Association has voted unanimously to adopt the proposed new statutes presented before it by the Normalisation Committee of the Ghana Football Association.

At a historic Extraordinary Congress in Accra, members voted massively to adopt the Statute, which has now become binding on the GFA.

155 members present voted to unanimously adopt the revised Statutes.

The adoption of the revised statutes paves the way for elections to be conducted to elect a new president for the Association, as well as a new board.

Meanwhile Congress also unanimously adopted the Normalization Committee’s proposed regulations for the upcoming elections of the GFA.

NC spokesperson Dan Kwaku Yeboah resigns

The spokesperson of the Normalisation Committee Dan Kwaku Yeboah has resigned, less than a week to Congress and pocketed $11,000 in 11 months in what has been a disastrous reign.

The broadcaster with Peace FM has jumped the ship before being pushed after growing frustrated claiming ‘lack of respect’.

Yeboah finally tendered in his resignation on Friday in an attempt to save his image which has been battered heavily since he took the job.

It’s an open secret that the Peace FM journalist was forced on the interim body of the Ghana Football Association by the country’s Ministry of Youth and Sports after Dr Kofi Amoah rejected his appointment.

With his competence strongly questioned by the Normalisation Committee, the interim body reverted to the GFA communications staff to support their work as Yeboah clearly did not perform to their expectation.

He did not enjoy the backing of the Normalisation Committee boss Dr Amoah, who is reported to have embarrassed him on several occasions because of his inability to deliver even common press releases.

It appears the tough-talking journalist, who was paid $1,000 monthly salary for just a part time has had enough of the embarrassment by jumping the ship, barely a month to the end of tenure of the interim body.

The journalist has come under fire for claiming to have drafted a communication policy for the FA which already had been one in operation.

Also, claims of putting together a GFA Corporate Social Responsibility Document for the federation single-handedly has been mocked in the local media.

Breaking: Normalization Committee meeting with Ghana League clubs called off

The proposed meeting between representatives of clubs and GFA-NC officials to discuss the 2019/20 league season has been canceled.

The GFA announced that the meeting was called off discouraging response they received from the Clubs.

Official Statement reads:

The proposed meeting between representatives of clubs and GFA-NC officials to discuss the 2019/20 league season has been canceled.

The meeting was to deliberate on the proposal to synchronize Ghana’s league calendar with Europe as mooted by some club officials.

The cancellation of the meeting originally scheduled for Wednesday, July 17, is necessitated by discouraging response from the invited clubs.

The GFA-NC will avail itself for future stakeholder engagements on the above subject matter when necessary.

The GFA-NC wishes to state unequivocally that, it is determined to wrap-up within the stipulated mandate as spelled out by the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA).

The public is therefore urged to regard as false any contrary information, surrounding the GFA-NC supposed intent to further seek an extension of its mandate.

Normalisation Committee apologizes for Black Stars 2019 AFCON exit

The Normalisation Committee of the Ghana Football Association has apologized for Ghana’s surprise elimination from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

A statement issued on the Ghana FA’s website read: ”The Normalisation Committee of the Ghana Football Association is extremely saddened by the exit of the senior national football team, the Black Stars from the Total CAF African Cup of Nations.

”Like our expectant compatriots, we anticipated an exciting tournament, which would culminate in a successful climax of ending our agonizing 37-year for the Afcon trophy.

”The African Cup of Nations has become competitive over the years, and with the historic increase in the number of participating teams, we were well aware of the challenging task which awaited the Black Stars in Egypt.

”Therefore, the Normalisation Committee, with the concerted efforts of key stakeholders, particularly the Government of Ghana, set out to ensure the best of preparations for the Black Stars towards achieving the national objective of ending our Afcon trophy-drought.

”The pre-tournament international friendly in Accra, the early camping in Dubai, the friendly matches and incentive packages for the team were all part of plans and processes towards achieving the elusive dream of winning the African Cup in Egypt.

”Unfortunately, our dream, once again, has ended in disappointment, despite the promise the team’s early promise in the group stage, especially having improved considerably in our final group match h with Guinea Bissau.

”The Normalisation Committee understands the national mood of disappointment, following our painful elimination through the nerve-racking penalty shootout defeat to Tunisia.

”On behalf of the GFA and the football fraternity, we wish to apologize to the good people of Ghana for the painful exit of the Black Stars.

”As we have always maintained, the future of Ghana football is bright, but we can only reclaim our lost glory if the football fraternity remains focused on the development of our game to catch up with our rivals in the world, especially on the African continent.

”This early elimination of the Black Stars is another sad reality for the football fraternity and the nation to a larger extent, to have a second look at our football blueprint moving forward.

”The Normalisation Committee is confident that the restructuring process we have started since last year, will lay a solid foundation on which the future of Ghana football would be built; first and most importantly, to strengthen and improve our domestic football infrastructure, club administration and finances, and turn around the local league to be exciting, player-crazy platform, as well as fan and sponsorship- attractive.

”All these together, will help us claim our top of place position in regional, continental and world football in both male and female games.

”We can’t end this statement without thanking various stakeholders, especially the President, Government (through the Ministry of Youth and Sports and other agencies), the Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth, Culture and Sports, as well as the people of Ghana for their committed support to the Black Stars for this Afcon campaign.

”His Excellency President Akufo-Addo demonstrated his personal support towards the team during the qualifiers, before and during the tournament. The Government of Ghana also showed its strong support to the team by providing whatever the team needed for a successful campaign.

”We also appreciate the support of GNPC to the team.

”Finally, we salute the good people of Ghana for their unwavering support to the Black Stars throughout the tournament.

”Even when the going was tough for the team after its stuttering starts with successive draws against Benin and Cameroon, Ghanaians remained solidly behind the team and lifted them up through encouraging words, especially on social media back to its glory days.

”We also acknowledge the role of the media in rallying support for the team before and during the campaign.

”The Normalisation Committee will continue to solicit and count on the support of Ghanaians as we continue with the arduous, but the surmountable task of restoring Ghana football back to its glory days.”

NC Announce equal disbursement of gate proceeds for clubs ahead of Tier-one semis

The GFA-NC after carefully considering the concerns raised by clubs and appeals over the disbursement of gate proceeds has decided to review the percentage stake of gate proceeds as follows;

Home Team: 45%

Away Team: 45%

GFA             :    10%

Explaining the rationale behind the review, the GFA-NC has shown its commitment to empowering local clubs to be self-sufficient in all aspects and this includes strategies that would generate enough income to invest back into the clubs.

The GFA-NC is of the view that without paying the key actors of football, the players, well, it would be very difficult to keep them in Ghana thereby creating a consistent, exciting and thriving league.

It is in this regard that the GFA-NC has reviewed the status quo and decided to give each team 45% of gate proceeds while the remaining 10% will be compensation for the NC.

Whilst encouraging clubs to be business oriented franchises, the GFA-NC also understands the challenges confronting teams.

The GFA-NC continues to operate an open door policy that stretches out its arms to all stakeholders, especially the football clubs, officials, the players, and our valued media partners.

Special Competition: NC condemns ‘Horrific’ at Berekum Golden City Park

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Normalisation Committee (NC) strongly condemns the shocking acts of violence witnessed at the Berekum Golden City Park on Sunday 28th April during the NC Special Competition clash between Berekum Chelsea and Asante Kotoko.

We have learnt with horror that following a confrontation between opposing supporters and officials, gunshots were fired as well as brutal acts of violence and hooliganism.

While expressing our commiserations to the injured officials and supporters, the N.C would like to state in no uncertain terms that it is totally against the carrying, wielding or use of weapons at any venue before, during or after football matches.

Again, the NC emphatically condemns any provocation, abuse, threats or intimidation; be it verbal or physical towards players, team/ match officials and media and takes such attacks very seriously.

The NC would like to assure the general public that we will liaise with the police in their criminal investigations to reach conclusive findings and ensure appropriate sanctions are meted out to the perpetrator(s).

This latest incident should not be taken lightly and the NC urges the Police and other relevant stakeholders to join forces in order to clamp down heavily on offenders to serve as a deterrent against future incidents.

Additionally, the Normalization Committee in accordance with GFA statutes will refer the matter to the Disciplinary Committee of the GFA.
